So they are widening it to 6 lanes between Laffy and Breaux Bridge then between Henderson and start of Basin Bridge.

But doing nothing to the 4 mile or so gap between Breaux Bridge and Henderson?

This fricking state.

I assume that but why not do it at 1 time?

After 5 years of construction theyre just gonna start up again on that gap

theyre trying to set the world record for most cars stuck in traffic when there is a wreck on the Basin Bridge. Bottleneck central.

Just get into the HOV lane and drive right past the bottleneck.

Huge waste Highway dollars. Never a backup in traffic there, so hwy not spend it where it was really needed?

I'm sure this was just more Lafayette youngest child syndrome at work.

Yeah, it's stupid. That stretch is pretty rough too. All the panels have shifted at the joints.

False. I 10 needs to be 6 lanes throughout the state. Gotta start somewhere

That stretch is deemed a shipping corridor. They got a bunch of federal money for this project. Looks like they are tearing up the old road and putting in three brand new lanes instead of just adding a new lane. Its gonna be nice when its done. The old road, especially around Breaux Bridge, was in awful shape.

The have busted up all the lanes and reload them. I wonder if they knew they had reached the end of their lifespan and decided to add another lane during the course of replacement

Yes, but wouldn’t you start by widening 10 through the metro areas and then pushing outward?

For instance why not 10 from the Breaux Bridge exit west to say mile marker 90???

Like around the stretch from Baton Rouge to NOLA where it's needed.

The state was trying to get the parish or city to take money in exchange for getting rid of THIS bridge. Probably part of the reason for not starting that section right away.

Btw, they denied the offer so now there will be extra costs widening, or even replacing, a large bridge that is only in place for a small city road.

They're also stopping when they hit the Louisiana Avenue exit, I believe. They should widen it through to the Scott exit or at ;east Ambassador IMO.

It hadn’t even crossed my mind until this post but leave it to Louisiana to have a section of i10E out of Lafayette to go 2 lanes, to 3 lanes for a few miles, back to 2 lanes for a few miles, to 3 lanes for a few miles, then back to the 2 lane Basin bridge.

No they’re not. The construction goes past La Ave. maybe not all the way to Scott yet, but it doesn’t stop at La. Ave.
