I want to get my son a decent watch for christmas. He wants an apple watch, but he can't wear it to school, and i don't want to spend that much on a starter watch. Any recommendations welcome....

I mean for a 13 year old I wouldn’t spend much. How much are you thinking?

Just go to Wal Mart and get something cheap. I imagine a 13 year old boy would be hell on a watch.

He won’t like it if it isn’t an Apple Watch. He couldn’t care less about a watch it’s the smart features he wants. Get him something else all together if you don’t want to get him an Apple Watch.

I don't know that he would fully appreciate the thought or value of a nice watch at 13.

are there any other things that you would be open to considering for him?

perhaps something like a lifetime hunting and fishing license? that would be something he could use now and for the rest of his life. And when he's older, you can invest in a nice timepiece for him.
