I threw a blood clot over night that went from my calf to my foot causing pain to walk and also severely limiting blood flow to my toes.

My vascular specialist’s (who I have an appointment with tomorrow) nurse recommended I go to the ER. Arrived at the ER at 10:40. Still waiting. Have had vitals taken and ultrasound performed on both legs but nothing for the last 3 hours. Some heavy BS waste of time.

The actual caregivers are polite, but sweet baby Jesus almost 6 hours and not one word with a doc. ‘Bout to walk out of this shite. If I was certain I wouldn’t blow a brain bleed or clot to the lung I would be out.

There are no fewer than 20 people in the ER treating the ER like a primary care facility jamming it up for everyone else.

That's not how it works. They'll sit there for 12+ hours before even seeing a room.

It's annoying but don't frick with that issue. Had 2 clots in my leg after an injury so they started me on the lovenox shots and warfarin. 3 days later clots were blocking the bottom of my lungs. Pretty sure without having started on the thinners I would have been screwed.

i thought everybody knew to tell them that your heart was hurting when you go to the ER, even if it's not

that puts you to the front of the line

Yea, welcome to the messed up world of emergency rooms.

People waste everyone’s time and money by bringing useless complaints to ERs.

Because our fantastic government has mandated that NO ONE can be denied treatment at an ER.

Thus, ERs have been primary care, pediatrics and internal med clinics.

Have fun.

There’s virtually zero risk of you throwing a clot to your lungs from an arterial embolus in your foot. Unless you have some sort of clotting factor disorder and have clots in your veins. If you have a pulse at your foot, there’s not much they’re gonna do in the ED anyway. Sucks, but not life threatening.

The hospitals near me are relatively quick in the ER. If you're in Houston or other large city you're going to wait.

I dont believe you

If you legit had an arterial embolus thrown to your leg proven by US they would have you on a heparin drip now or do a thrombectomy.

What you don’t know is probably half the beds in the ER are closed because administration either can’t keep nursing staff or refuses to pay them overtime to keep more beds open because there is always a nursing staff shortage in ER... also there is probably a line of ambulance patients sitting against a wall waiting on beds too. The waiting room may not look bad but ambulances come in non stop and nobody sees that from the waiting room. But your original statement is correct, it’s all screwed up

Many hospitals in Chicago have shut down their ERs because they lose so much money on them.

Obamacare was supposed to help ease that problem I think, but we hate/hated Obamacare right?
