This. The white shrimp boot wearing coon arses basically lay waste to all the deer they can shoot so I can only imagine what they would do to an elk herd.

Imgune if the plan to introduce Hippos to Louisiana swamps would have occurred. That would have been interesting.

If hippopotamus was put on the menu, would you try it? That's what America almost did in 1910! Confronted by corporate beef monopolies, meat shortages, and rising prices nationwide, senator Robert Broussard proposed a solution: Import hippopotamuses from Africa to free-range in Louisiana

Simple--none of those species have ever occurred here.

The ignorance of the OT never ceases to amaze.

You dumb arse, there are hell of a lot of crap in this country that Do gooders brought in. How about the snakes in Florida.
The Wildlife agencies love it because it builds their bureaucracies.
They swear there are no Cougars in East Tennessee, then someone took a picture of one with a tracking collar on its neck.

Coincidentally, the Meat Eater (Steven Rinella) just happened to draw an elk tag in Kentucky on the very first attempt.

What does any of this dumb shite have to do with a stupid suggestion that we should introduce species that have never occurred here in response to the proposed reintroduction of species that were native at one point?

Gtfo

ETA: hell, I didn't realize until after I responded that you were the ignorant bastard that suggested the elephants. Now that pathetic retort makes sense.

Arkansas has a pretty good population of elk now. The problem is when they transplanted them they also transplanted chronic wasting disease

Well, since CWD is already here, who cares

I think Axis deer would be great in LA

I'm pretty sure there are also accounts of bison being present around what is now New Orleans.

Anywhere with "boeuf" in the name in South Louisiana is usually because bison were in the area, or so old pow pow told me

Elk is good eating. Better than deer. I still eat deer, but if I had to pick from the two..

You know how bad arse it would be to be in a bottom and then hear an elk bugle? Wild

I consider myself pretty lucky to see them routinely.

Just the other day a herd of 50 were in a field eating right off a major highway.

I can go and see them whenever I want unless they’re in season
