Depends on the where & when, but generally speaking I'd rather lose my wallet. I can freeze my cards within seconds as long as I have my phone.

Phone. I've lost my wallet before, that was terrible. This was before tap to pay, but even if you freeze your cards with your phone, you can't pay for anything with your phone anymore.

Wallet. One phone call to my wife and everything would be fixed within hours. I’d have a new credit card (she has one in reserve) in an hour. I’d eventually have to go to the DMV, but I’m retired so I can choose and uncrowned venue and time.

Phone, since mine is a simple flip-phone I can replace for well under $100.

Replacing a license, insurance, debit/credit, membership cards, etc. would be a total PITA to deal with and take a lot more time and effort.

A wallet is more of a hassle to replace (DL, credit cards, etc) but you’re not really out anything.

Lose a phone, and you’re looking at $1000.

Wallet gets my vote.

Yeah I have my License, Debit Card, and a single Credit Card in my wallet.

Losing a phone will cost way more, then I'm screwed temporarily on Fidelity and Webull while I take a few days to get a new one.

Plus my phone has my license and debit anyway

File me under wallet for sure.

This is my answer but I’ve also learned you can hit FB marketplace etc and get essentially a new solid phone in a couple hours for a couple hundred. Basically swapping trip to DMV for trip to AT&T.

Wallet. My phone can function as a wallet. My wallet cannot function as a phone.

You lose your wallet, you have to change all your card numbers, thus rendering your phone wallet unusable.

I never change numbers when I lose a card. I just monitor the accounts. I don’t keep a debit card in my wallet (would be personally responsible for unauthorized spending) and my CCs have protections if I did not authorize/make the purchase. I also always keep at least one backup license and have it digitized on my phone.
