Would You Rather Live Near The Beach or The Mountains?

If you had to choose, would you rather live near the mountains, or would you prefer to live near the beach? Say, for example, when you retire, you could have a beautiful home you saved years for, but it would only be near one or the other. Which one are you choosing?
This is hard for me, as I love both, but I would have to go with the mountains. The beach is awesome, but I have had a love for mountains since I was a kid, when my family and I would visit the Smokies in Tennessee. Build me a cabin out there and I can die a happy man lol.

As of now, I'd like a mountain home, however there is a reason old people move to Florida and Arizona. Living near the mountains in winter sucks arse.

Beach. Has to be in a conservative state though.

I think most women would pick the beach, but most men would choose the mountains.

Mountains by quite a large margin

Mountains. I'd rather deal with the cold than sand any day.

In between. I live 2 hours from the Beach and 2 hours from the mountains. If i could only choose one it would be mountains.

The mountains, and it is not even close for me. That is compounded by the fact that I don’t want to be trying to rebuild my hurricane-damaged home when I am 80 years old.

We split time between MT and right on the SC-West NC border. I'd rather do beach trips and live in mtns. Edisto isn't far away and is a great low key place especially for camping. In FL, I love Cape San Blas/St George, but i'd rather camp there in Fall and Spring and then bye. I do like small beach towns in the winter too.
Today we took our kids to Table Rock SP (under 15 min pretty country drive) after school and had the whole beach to ourselves. I know it isn't the same as Destin, but clear water and clean sand and high 70s, not a single bug.
A nice mountain lake, like Jocassee in SC/NC, or Holland Lake in MT, on a boat scratches my water itch. Then there's the whitewater of course.
Mountains.
