For all the threads on here talking about how shitty Louisiana is as a state it sure takes a lot of convincing to get some of these baws to move away.
New England can be fantastic OP, you’d be crazy to not at least try to live there for almost double your pay imo.
A sport like baseball, if Braxton is even a decent ball player he’ll probably be an all-star up there.

Only problem is that those damn winters are no joke. WWtOTD?
For 2x the salary? I would suck it up and learn to love the frick out of cold weather.

I mean, maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains? Maybe? If it’s an extremely harsh winter?
Any city knows how to clear the roads very quickly, the plows are out during the storms so often the roads are clear before the skies even are. And unless you live in extremely old housing, the houses are designed to insulate from the cold so I’ve never heard of anyone ever staying in their basement to stay warm. I genuinely don’t think that’s a thing.

Exactly what I said. November through April is fricking cold. 4 of those 6 months your holed up and snowed in your basement trying to stay warm. frick that.
That’s not fricking cold.
You ain’t holed up and snowed in your basement trying to stay warm.
You are a pussy.

My wife would become a hermit crab though.
My wife was like that. She hated it below 60 degrees, yet she learned to tolerate it here. Didn't take long either.
There's only a few places in the country where it's cold for more than 3-4 months of the year.

Tell that to Minnesota this past winter. It snowed from November to April. And I’m not talking just a little snow, I’m talking major snow for 5-6 months

Maybe. She hates the cold and I hate the heat. She told me she'd meet me in the middle after the last one is out of school.
I took her to Montana this summer which she loved but granted it was summer. NC or TN are probably my best bet.

Willamette valley in Oregon is nice. Warm, not real hot summers and not as cold as some areas of Tennessee or NC.

Minnesota is one of the coldest states in the country. Northern Minn is colder than much of Alaska.

NH is a beautiful mostly rural state and it’s not full of the typical northeastern liberal jackasses.
Cost of living isn’t bad either so double your salary will allow a much better lifestyle. According to a US news affordability/cost of living study Louisiana ranked 20th and NH was 26th so costs will be fairly similar to La. With that extra money you’ll be able to travel and come home to see friends or take better vacations. You’ll be close to some cool large cities with plenty of stuff to do.
I would do it.
