The Walgreens cashier told me that they had rounded me up to the nearest five dollars to support education. She said thanks as she handed me the receipt.

I ask them if they would like to round down to help out my bank account.

Most of that shite has gotten so vague. I'll donate to the Publix drive when they open it up after a disaster, but otherwise it is always a no.

Best part is the business collects the money tax free and then "donates" it under their corporate name and takes a corporate tax deduction with your money. OR they buy school supplies from themselves at full retail, take the profits and then donate those same supplies and take the tax deduction.

Brilliant really.

Exactly. All you're really doing is donating to a company's tax write off.

Translation: "Will you give my corporate overlords your change so they can write a big fancy check for media appearances without having to use any of their own money but take all of the credit?"

I'd help a kid who needs help and guidance, but I don't give shite to anything I don't know what exactly the money is going towards. They need more than "to help children with their education". Tax dollars already go towards education.

Government has been rounding up my dollars to help the children and elderly for a long time, and yet they continue to need help.

If they truly wanted to help education they wouldn't price gouge and would lower their cost donating that amount on their own behalf.

No, I don’t want to donate to St. Jude’s and you’re not getting a tip either.
