Okay, I get that there are too many variables. Let me narrow it down. Black woman in her early thirties is the victim. Black man is the offender. Black man doesn’t appear armed. Black man is 6’ tall and 210lbs. He punches her in the face and is trying to wrestle her purse away from her.
I’m beating that arse like I’ve already done once before in 2018. Except the crack head I tore up had a broken bottle.
If you haven’t had any training I’d suggest you try to get help. Though commendable for trying to help a person in distress, there’s no use in having two people injured and robbed instead of one.
Also the girl I was with and trying to date at the time couldn’t get my clothes off fast enough after watching me help a stranger like that. She’s now my wife too. Goes to show women really do want a protector.
PS. After thinking about it I’d like to think I’d do the same butttt I have little ones now and am much more conscious of my choices. I just reacted then without thinking but now I’d probably be trying to get them to safety first and then try and help.

I struggle with this. As a husband and father, I have to be very selective about risking my life and leaving my wife and kids unprotected and not provided for. At this point in my life, I probably lean towards not getting physically involved but later in life that probably changes.

Genuinely conflicted. The reality is most muggings probably don't end in meaningful injury, much less death. In other cases where you might intervene, it's very likely you won't have the benefit of a clear understanding of what's happening. Domestic incidents especially. So I don't want to leave my kids without a dad by getting stabbed over some woman's cell phone or what have you.
On the other hand, that's a toxic attitude for society, I think. It's also not really the example I want my sons to see.

Again, the extent that I would provide help is to watch from afar and call the cops.
You’re part of the reason that things are the way they are. You’ll watch a stranger suffer and not risk your safety to help your fellow man or woman. You’re a pussy.

^^^ This
Say you're a 50/60/70 year old guy. Don't train in any kind of self-defense system. Even if you did, it's all gym stuff really. You're out of shape. Not carrying. And you see some hood rat beating up on someone.
Keyboard Warriors would jump in and say I would. And maybe you might. Maybe you could find a weapon. Could be anything. A chair. A car. A trash can. A stick. Maybe there'd be a group of guys around and maybe they'd all join in.
But it's not that simple. You need to think "would I potentially give up my life for...." Say you have a family that needs and wants you. Would you?
Sometimes being a good witness is the best option.

I think any one on here would despite the racist bad baw internet persona

Absolutely, I'd intervene! I've always wanted to know what a 10mm 180 grain round would do in a real world situation as opposed to what it does to a block of ballistic gel.

I’m not about to get stabbed to help some welfare queen so she can continue to have the government subsidize her weed smoking and Cheeto eating life.
Only these type of people get mugged, especially since muggers target people on welfare and people who look like they don’t have wealth. Good thread.

If I have superior firepower on me, yes.
I'm not engaging in a knife fight having not been trained in knife combat and I'm sure as hell not bringing my fists against a knife. That crosses the line between bravery and stupidity into the clearly stupid region.

I would love to have an excuse to knock out an idiot while being recorded by tons of people

Living in Louisiana opened my eyes to this type of shite. Where I’m from, muggings and criminal activity against randoms isn’t super common. The gag bangers tend to target other gang bangers. When I saw how much of an issue this was in areas of the South, I quickly learned to keep my head on a swivel in some areas.
To your point, if I’m with my friends, it would be easier for us to try to intervene. If it’s a loved one that’s a victim, of course you jump in. Otherwise, it’s not worth potentially getting myself killed to help someone I don’t know. It’s an unfortunate truth. If I get shot, I have accomplished nothing, and left my daughter without a dad.

I didn't know there would be Cheetos involved.
If they are the jalapeno flavor, I'm jumping in.
Me and the mugger would then split the cheetos.

I'm calling the popo and videoing it/photoing it for evidence while yelling for it to stop and stepping in only if she's on the ground getting her head stomped or something. I've got a family, too high a chance that perp has a gun in his sagging pants.

No. I have a higher responsibility to my family and friends and can’t carry that out if I’ve been shot or stabbed.

some stranger who probably voted for Kamala Harris
Akshully Trump won the popular vote so probabilistically speaking it's more likely to be a Trump voter being mugged.

I don't care to find out. I'd prefer it if I go my entire life without having to fire my handgun unless I'm at the range or hunting.

I would and have twice. Not mugging but a girl being attacked and a desk clerk being attacked. I do what Id want someone to do for me.

You're an idiot. Everyone has a smart phone and that is about the only thing of value anyone carries anymore, plus the poorer are more likely to carry cash than cards.

Depends on if I have my gun with me.
I'm kidding, I always have my gun with me.
