The magnet doesn't come standard. You have to upgrade to a premium package.

And that’s where you would be wrong. The entire reason for the Light Tactical Vehicle program is so soldiers can drive OFF ROAD. The enemy knows our big arse armored vehicles can only drive on road which allows them to plant IED’s at choke points like bridges and intersections. By driving off road through the desert we can avoid those areas. Good luck trying to mine the entire desert.

Ok, what about small arms protection? This thing doesn't even have a turret for a heavy MG or a MK 19. Just a couple swing arm mounts for a 240.

Not possible. Nothing sling loads "into" a blackhawk. Nothing. Now sling-loaded under yes, but not in.

The blackhawks can sling load an uparmored HUMVEE right now so I am not sure what this has to do with weight.

If I am forward deployed I want nothing to do with this thing unless it can outrun bullets. There are already exposed quick reaction vehicles another isn't really needed.

I have seen the protos at a couple of shows. There is one with a ring turret to mount a HMG / GL but it interferes with the height req. On at least one of them the back roll cage folds down so the thing can be driven into an Osprey. There are multiple iterations. As usual, they will try to make this do everything and end up with something that does nothing well.

Front end quarter panels look sort of like a 4Runner.

We are getting closer and closer to just having the Warthog from Halo.

The brass always need new toys to justify their bloated budgets.

The military uniform business is where it's at.

Big push right now on weight reduction to increase flight time and distance. Think remote Africa and not Afghanistan with forward refueling points. At least that’s what I was told my some PEO folks. I just got back from Tampa and this program was briefed.

That thing looks like a death trap. No bullet or IED shielding. ISIS bros are licking their chops.

Lighter would help range, but so would just leaving the refueling boom on them like a certain unit already does.

You're saying the Abrams can only drive on roads?

I assure you that's far from true. I put Lord only knows how many miles I've spent on the Abrams from Kentucky, to Germany, to Saudi Arabia & Iraq. Most of those miles were not on a road of any sort.
