I would think that this could fall under a "crime of passion" (which isn't a myth) and could be argued that way in court - could it not?
Crime of passion is still manslaughter.

This is the correct answer and the path I would take if it was my child. I would let the justice system do it’s thing but if the perp ever saw free sunlight again, it wouldn’t be for long.

I hope and pray I am never in this situation, but right now I think I would have to kill a guy that did this to my child.
I think the only way kids can get any real resolution is full knowledge that there absolutely is no way the guy can hurt them again, and the only means of that is death. It also reinforces that I will absolutely move mountains for them.
I may go to jail but I have no qualms trading my freedom for my child's mental well being. Any loving parent would understand.

Well you can ask the actual kid from that case if you’re right...he’s posting in this thread.

Yes, in a heart beat.

I’ll be honest. I did not buy that point of view until I heard it coming from you. Ok then. You changed my mind.

Plauche did something that 98% of people talk about doing but when it comes down to it won’t do. He walked the walk. He loved his son. He made sure that guy didn’t molest anyone else. Ever again. Watching the video the smugness that guy is showing while he is being walked through the airport is disgusting.
I happen to think that if vigilante and street justice happened more often we wouldn’t have as many problems as we do now. Our court systems have failed so many families over the years it is impossible to count. Gary Plauche was judge, jury, and executioner. It worked. Period.

I am grateful that your dad essentially got off
If I were on a jury for a similar situation, I can tell you that there would be 2 possible outcomes - hung jury or not guilty on all charges

Mr. Plauche should have a statue put up in his honor. True hero.
Posted on 1/13/19 at 5:50 pm to whitetiger1234
I can’t fathom the pain that the Plauche family went through because of this monster. In my mind the only thing Gary Plauche was guilty of was loving his son and wanting to protect him.
Props to Jody for moving on and becoming a decent well adjusted adult.

No.
Why kill the person you want to kill when you can make the rest of their life a living hell?
Prisoners don’t treat child molesters with any degree of respect. The kidnapper and child molester would have been molested far worse in prison. And once he got out, thinking he paid his dues... I would have another round of vengeance waiting for his child molesting arse.

If my son was not killed by the molester in this scenario, I would not kill the molester. My son would need his dad.

I was going to post something similar but very well said. All folks say "Yes I would do it". No one says "You know, I really don't think I would have", If everyone was telling the truth we wouldn't even be talking about this since it would be so commonplace. Since this is an outlier everyone would like to think they would but in reality wouldn't.

If I had the stones. I'd like to think I would.
