Also, what was the attitude like in BR while this story was unfolding?

Very divided, just like the responses in this thread, was also election year and the trial kept getting delayed until after the election

I was in school with Jody when this happened, Gary was our softball coach and the Plauche’s were good
Friends of ours, he had a lot of support from his circle of friends. If I remember correctly his sentence was 300 hours of community service, which is an excessively harsh penalty in my mind as I feel he deserved a medal

So getting yourself put in prison accomplishes this how for your remaining children?

this is the one sane person in the thread. Gary is lucky he wasn't put away for a long time. Killing the guy does nothing to change past events, and all it does is put your family through even more pain. As a father, your job is to be there for your family and you can't be there or protect them from prison, unless you are a high ranking mafia don.

that said, I would most definitely want to, but I wouldn't actually go through with it.

I hope that I would’ve done the same thing.

I'd hate to be in the vicinity if that happened in an airport today. All kinds of bullets flying around.

I agree that people in this thread are just trying to act like badasses instead of thinking this through.

In this day and age, by far and away the most likely outcome for doing what Gary did are (1) you get blown away by LEO or (2) you end up in prison with a lengthy sentence. Either way, you won’t be there to raise your children or provide for your family.

I don’t see how avenging the wrong (especially when the shitstain is already in custody and we all know what happens to molesters in prison) is a greater service to your family than actually being there for your kids and providing a steady income to give them a decent life. This goes double for the baws whose wives don’t work.

Would we all want to do what Gary did? Sure. But only those who are retarded or seriously lack impulse control would go through with it.

NOT criticizing LEO. Just noting that in a post 9/11 world, you are going to die if you shoot someone surrounded by cops in an airport.

Not if LEO is in on it. Mr. Gary was tipped off by someone high up.

i have no clue what the going rate is for child molester/rapist prison sentences, but if anything you make him suffer in prison and then knock the guy off when he gets out. at least then you can plan it and have the best chances of getting away with it. lol.

Only if you consider the program director at Channel 2 high up.

I'd certainly be angry enough to do it. Hopefully I'd reason out that I am a single father and my kids would end up far worse off with me in jail.

Thank you. Pre-Internet these pedo creeps often worked in groups - for no other reason than self protection.

50-50 chance that victims had to suffer for years at the hands of monsters that could have been rolled if ole Gary hadn’t silenced a guy that could have been squeezed.

Times are much different now, so likely not, but there wouldn't be a day that passed that I wouldn't think about it a few times.

Actually, that's what grandpa's are for. Life sentence is not that long and the child still has the parent.

Without a second thought. If someone abuses my daughter, they are catching one in the dome and two in the chest.

He was tipped off too, no way most of us get off or not shot at today. Well unless you are someone that is in bed with the cops, dirty corrupt Louisiana will still be dirty corrupt Louisiana.

Anyone that says they would do the same....is full of shite

Anyone that says they wouldn't do the same....is full of shite.

Because no one that hasn't been in those shoes have any idea how they would react in that situation.

It was against the law.....but I understand.
