Would the world a better place if we were reset to early 90s tech?

Nascent email - usually limited to colleges, or AOL/Compuserve

Cellphones were phones (no smart phones)

Internet in infancy

No social media, YouTube, streaming, TikTok

You actually have to interact/talk to people

Not everyone gets a voice (or their voice/opinion heard).

You go to the movies, or go to the local video store

You could still get away from work and not be subject to constant and instant contact.

When you had to walk into a Circle K and tell the middle aged overweight guy behind the counter which magazine you wanted to go home and jerk it to.

That was such a great time to grow up.

I was just old enough to remember having to get up to change the channel on the tv on top of the tv at my grandparents and to go through all of your OP and to now with the iPhone and hyper technology society

Nah. Let's get to the end of it. It was inevitable.

The main problem with the tech you’ve listed is that we’ve allowed it to change the way we interact with each other.

I think it’s possible to fix that, keep the tech we have and end up with a world that’s not only better than what we have today, but also far better than anything we had in the past.

Nothing like trying to download a nudie pic on dial-up only to have the phone ring right when the tits are about to show

The only thing that’s better is accessibility to music. Other than that the 90s are waaaaay better

Tech is a double edged sword

All of the social aspects you mentioned are troubling today

But when we have medical breakthroughs brought about by tech advancements we'll be thankful for those advancements

I’d miss YouTube and xvideos. And I like working from home. Society would be better off though.
