LA would probably be much nicer overall due to the lack of culcha that that was brought by the Mississippi.

This thread is moronic and filled with ignorance.
First of all, the fishing in Louisiana is 20 TIMES better than the fishing in Florida.
Secondly, all of South Louisiana would not exist if not for the Mississippi River. It is a river delta. All of the land was built by the Mississippi River over the last several thousand years.
So much ignorance in this thread.

Yes. It's called silt. It's why Destin beaches are beautiful and Biloxi beaches are shite.

What? The Lousiana coast wouldn’t look anything like it does now without the river delta

You’re not better than anyone else regardless if they have flies in their eyes in Africa or live in MS, and it’s pretty damn nice down here on the coast even if the water isn’t crystal blue.

Would the Sportsman's Paradise coast line of LA resemble that of FL thus providing a better overall fishing + vacationing experience?
What a stupid thing to say.

The mouth of the Mississippi has been as far east as Biloxi and as far west as Galveston.
Perhaps the delta grew south of what is now Biloxi once, but I don't think it ever flowed out of Biloxi.
And how did it get out as far west as Galveston? The western part of Louisiana's coast was formed differently than the eastern side (Chenier vs. Deltaic). Are you saying that the Trinity River, the Neches River, or even the Sabine are some remnant streams from the Mississippi? Where is the Bayou Lafourche or Atchafalya River remains of the Mississippi flowing that way, or since you brought up the area, Bayou Teche?

Bayou Teche?

Would a higher caliber population of bikini clad females inhabit LA like that of a Miami+Tampa/St. Pete/etc. lucky FL?
Are you also changing the climate to something that is more in line with south Florida?

2 times last year in Galveston the water cleared up like destin.. you could see your feet in 4 ft of water. The wind and tide aligned just right to push the sediment from the Mississippi river away from the coast.. the river is the main reason why texas doesn't have pretty beaches.. the farther south you go the better the water.
It was pretty clear and blue this weekend but not as nice as last year. All the locals lose their shite when it happens, all the beaches get filled up real quick.

You serious Clark?
WTF you think makes Louisiana one of the hottest fishing spots in the nation...

Don’t get me wrong the fishing in Louisiana’s marsh areas is fantastic due to the river and delta, but part of it is also due to the population compared to the area you fish. The Florida panhandle has way more people vs fishable square miles of inshore. Redfish certainly are on average much bigger in the slot size in Louisiana due to the conditions and food. Trout are more prevalent. I’m simply saying Florida gets fished hard for the little amount of coastal water we have in the panhandle and that hurts.
Now the offshore fishing in Venice has almost nothing to do with the river, it’s due to the shelf being considerably smaller and the deep water Basin’s and Canyons being considerably closer to the shore. Well along with the river I supposed being there.
I’d say Grand isle would likely be similar to Gulf Shores without the big river.
Or maybe somewhere like Carrabelle, Fl which is a lot of swampy marsh land and decent but not great beaches.

I see you know nothing of the life cycles of the species you fish for. The coastal marshes and the Miss R. feed the ecosystem. The Florida gulf coast is nowhere near the productivity of the Louisiana coast.

What? Florida fishing sucks compared to LA. As someone on this board posted years ago...leaving Louisiana to go fishing in the Florida Panhandle is like leaving the Playboy mansion to go to Lake Charles to meet women.
Florida fishing is not bad at all. From a surf fishing perspective, I've caught more variety of fish there than in Louisiana.
But to your point, I think we sometimes take for granted just how spectacular the fishing in the coastal waters of Louisiana are. The large estuary systems provided by the rivers that drain into the gulf and large brackish swamp areas make for muddier beaches but elevate the fishing potential.
I prefer surf fishing in Florida because I particularly like the beaches we frequent (St. George Island). But it's only because I prefer the beach itself and I'm more about relaxing and catching a few fish. If I were primarily trying to get numbers and quality, Louisiana is where it's at.

The river is what makes fishing better.

Galvestons water is like that because of the jetties.
A half mile off the coast the water is clear blue and perfect

Grand Isle would look like Seaside on 30A with Dulac type fishing before the erosion.
