Would golden retrievers be so loved if not for Air Bud?

Why do people like these dogs so much? They usually have a blank stare like they have the mental capacity of a goldfish. I dont think they should be as hated as the pit bull, but to me they bring nothing to the table as a pet. Air Bud was propaganda to make these dogs more popular IMO. Agree or disagree?

No. Air bud was made BECAUSE golden retriever's are so popular. You got it the wrong way around.

Air Bud was made b/c a dog named Air Buddy got famous on America’s Funniest Home Videos and David Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks segments for being able to shoot hoops by bouncing a basketball off his nose. The original Buddy also played Comet on Full House. He died from cancer after the first Air Bud came out.

You can do your own research, but you probably won't
Golden's are routinely used as service animals, hunting, search and rescue, etc...

The average golden retriever is probably smarter than you are...and if you even had the intelligence to google this topic, you would have figured that out.

Their only downside is the shedding. Other than that, a perfect family/protection dog.

You are either a complete idiot, or have never actually been around a Golden.
They are ranked as one do the smartest breeds. Any interaction with one would quickly show you that.
