None of the seats pictured in the article are your standard coach seats. Those are all first class pods.

Of course 20 hours is doable in first class.

They won't be able to accomplish this with the traditional seat layout and cargo policies that we're used to seeing. They are probably going to try to do this with 1/4 of the maximum passenger capacity of the Dreamliner.

Flying is all about weight and balance. They're gonna have to load up on a lot of petrol for a 20 hour flight, like, enough for a 24 hour+ flight.

More fuel and less cargo equals less profit.

Any ticket for this ride will be astronomically expensive. But maybe their marketing department sees an opportunity catering to the rich.

it'd be doable if airliners had moderate stretching, reclining, and walking space, not the chicken carriers they have become. the human body is not meant to stay seated for 20 fricking hours.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 hours from Atlanta to Seoul. Then had another 6 hour flight to Bangkok from Seoul after about a 2 hour layover.

Gotta say those seat areas look comfortable and nice though. Is all seating for long flights like that?

This is the first class cabin.

The NYC > Singapore is around 19hrs. There is a large business cabin and the remainder of the plane is a premium economy with reclining seats with footrests. I’d imagine this Quantas flight would have a similar setup.

I’ve gone 12hrs in Delta main cabin. I’m sure I could do 20 in business.

Detroit to Seoul, was about 14 hours.

had no issues... It's all movies and food cause I rarely sleep on a plane.

This. Its cramped, but for fricks sake, it's not like your subjected to interrogation techniques for the duration. Do we really need to do studies and shite on this? Even shitty back of the plane seats have regular food and drink services including free alcohol and an interactive display with everything from games to new release movies.

14 hours to Melbourne

Same here, except ours was almost 16 hours from lax.

Actually wasn’t bad at all and we had our (at the time) 4 and 6 year old with us. Not sure if I could do it in coach, that looked miserable.

Almost 20 gruelling hours later, they’ll land in Sydney, having conquered the longest non-stop commercial flight in history.

I've been to South Korea four times in the last year.

Atlanta to Seoul direct flight. 15 and a half hours.

Going back in two weeks.

Longest single flight - 12.5 hours Minneapolis to Tokyo.
Add the 3 hours from Houston to Minneapolis, 6.5 hours from Tokyo to Bangkok and then a 2 hour car ride to Pattaya + all the layovers. Kick your a**. Did this every 3 weeks for the better part of 2 years. With the 12 hour time difference, it took me over a month to kick the Ambien when I was done.

LAX - SYD multiple times, ~15 hrs, not bad at all: have dinner and a few drinks right after take off then wake up for breakfast over Fiji. Used to do ATL - TLV when Delta had a direct and it was pretty close to the same duration.

20 hours on a C-141 from Biloxi to Kuwait City. To make it worse, we had jump seats.

I did 15 to China. We arrived at 9 pm and I was WIRED. If you want to go see that part of the world, you want to be able to stay longer than a week. It takes 2 full days to even halfway get adjusted.
