Working all nights is depressing as hell. You get higher pay for doing that in Alaska.

But here in Louisiana, and honestly, all the other 49 states, you don't get the pay bump.
Even though the same mental processes come into play.
I'm just saying: it sucks spending the majority of your waking hours during the night.

24 hour a day twilight right now in AK so who gives a shite if it is day or night.

) in Louisiana and Arizona, but didn't accept those. However, I have for the past year here in Cali. The money was just so much better that I figured I'd do it for a year or 2 out here then switch back to normal hours. I don't have kids though so it's a lot easier of a decision for me, although I regret it a lot because these hours just fricking suck. Anyways, I said all that really just to say your random arse OP is full of shite. You're probably just an idiot or a shitty person/employee so they don't offer it to you.

I work night shift as a detention officer and it's the only shift I'll ever work.

Night shift for drilling was always easier. Dont have to deal with the bosses at night. But you are low man on the totem working nights in my area of concentration

I would switch to all night shifts in a heartbeat. 10 to 8 is perfect. I get to help put the kids to bed, sleep while they are in school, and can actually do stuff with them when they get out of school. 9 to 7 is shite.
