You really want to be two women anywhere near a bunch of demoralized, vodka soaked, Russian men?
Nice try, though.

I wonder how many fewer rides they would have received if they were (2) men trying to do this.

I remember a few years back some couple set out to accomplish the same goal but they did it on bikes and ended up getting killed in one of those countries that end in —stan

If I wanted to prove that the world is a pretty good place, I’d take the safest route too. Basically I’d avoid the ME and Africa as a whole
Sure they took the safest route because they aren’t complete dumbasses. But if you ask the average American they would tell you that you are as good as dead if you hitchhike through thru Turkey and Russia
Hitchiking is actually a common way of traveling out there. I went to Kyrgyzstan once and lots of people hitchiked to get around, even locals.
I also know a buddy who rode his bicycle from the US all the way to Argentina and never encountered any problems at all.

The next one should start in Tijuana Mexico and end in tip of South America. It’s the only way to test the ‘Lucky Moron’ theory.
Remember when they had the World Cup in Brazil and some hipster from Brooklyn decided he was going to ride a motorbike all the way down there and blog about his journeys through that amazing part of the world?
He made it two or three days into Mexican cartel country and disappeared. They found him cut up into segments and stuffed in garbage bags.

I mean it was a choice between that or having to walk the desert in clothing up to their eyes or face stoning to death.
