I know in AZ and LA we've had medicsl access for years and I've yet to see any resistance to a physician prescribing it, oftentimes as a first or second option.

The bourbon industry here lobbies pretty hard against THC and several prominent state politicians are in their pockets. Damon Thayer wouldn't even let it come to a floor vote for several years because of it. We'll likely be one of the last states to fully legalize as a result (unless the feds do it).

Don't fool yourself, the vast majority are self medicating their self generated anxiety, and nothing more.

These women are rewriting the narrative around cannabis — rooted in scientific data

Yet there was ZERO data in the entire article.

If it's in perimenopause/menopause, it's only self generated in the sense that hormonal fluctuations (particularly decreases in estrogen) can and do cause anxiety.

Then that's a failure of the article. Not that data doesn't exist.

Science Direct: Cannabidiol therapy for symptom relief in Endometriosis

Science Direct: Medical cannabis in the management of Anxiety disorders

Because of the lack of legalization in the US, studies here are going to be limited (especially for perimenopause/menopause which have long been swept under the rug for these kind of studies).

Did you know that 65% of the women walking around are being treated with mind altering drugs, that means that 35% are still un-diagnosed

endometriosis

All of this. I was twice mis-diagnosed (by a PCP) with irritable bowel syndrome and medicated with prescriptions for a condition I didn’t have.

Endo is common. But it can’t be diagnosed by anything but surgery, which seems extreme for pain and other symptoms not everyone understands.

I eventually began losing so much blood my OB resorted to a laparoscopy. He apologized after he found it, because pre-surgery he had even hedged with “maybe you need to see a GI.”

my doctor would prescribe shite like opioids or NSAIDs for pain. I don't want to be a zombie on pain meds or have my stomach torn up from the NSAIDs (at the strength they need to be to manage the pain).

THC/CBD combo works to reduce pain without zoinking me out or causing stomach issues.

This is 100% my same stance as a chronic illness person. My biggest problem is trying to find high cbd/low thc at a medical dispensary. They told me they dont carry it because there is not a lot of call for it. I need it to be out of pain/function and don't want to be high. Apparently that is not most people's wish

This is the main reason it’s not fully legal. It takes too much power and money away from big pharma.

If by big pharma, you mean the absolute grip states' have on the supply and sales, then I agree.

It is a BS tax and information grab.

Yup..that shite head turtle basically snuck in closing the hemp loop hole which looks like it's seeking to nuke the hemp delta 9 seltzer market which is taking a big chunk from big liquor.

I have a buddy who owns a higher end liquor/food store in a nice part of town. he used to have 3 coolers for craft beer and they are all now filled with delta 9 seltzers. People have realized you can unwind, relax and not deal w ith hangovers, high blood pressure, weight gain and liver problems associated with alcohol and Washington simply cannot have any of that!

If you dont believe that a trained chef and community doula isn't an expert on THC usage and dosage, you are just being unreasonable.

If they have ever worked the line back of house, I can guarantee they know more about drugs than they do about salt, acid, fat, and heat.

Both you and BluegrassBelle are describing a very small, anecdotal sample of where it's useful. Fine, I'm talking about the 20-30-40 somethings that are constantly "super busy" with errands, kids, social stresses that use it as an excuse as to why they're so anxious (hint, they created most of it through their choices.)

If the article has even quoted a study, I would have read it, but it's about narrative building. This way the next news outlet will use that editorial as their evidence.
