This is a region wide issue. Even St Bernard is having huge issues. Response times of an hour have been seen there.

EMS can’t be everywhere at once
NOPD can’t be everywhere at once

Society functions on the honor system. The social contract is that people don’t predate the community they live in

those people that do are the problem not the cops or first responders

Everything can be blamed on covid, right.

One explanation I heard is that ambulance companies are chasing dollars and choosing to transport patients hospital to hospital rather than cover areas as they once did. One driver talked about being midway across the causeway and being dispatched to a call in lower St Bernard.

I have no knowledge of how the system works or what their obligations are.

This absolutely disgusts me. I'm done making excuses. The city is absolutely ruined right now. I'm finished.

I don't blame you. However, I think it's going to take the majority of residents in Orleans parish to feel this way - and then act on it, primarily by leaving, to eventually drive real change.

I am of the opinion, like many others, that elected officials know that so long as residents get their Mardi Gras and JazzFest fix, they'll continue to overlook the problems the city has. And as other posters have said, they will just continue to pass along the problems to the next administration. There's no consequences to them otherwise. The local media doesn't hold them accountable and neither do many of the residents.

Sadly, until the tax base crumbles and there's nothing left, do I believe change MAYBE will occur.

But there's likely still too many die hards who will continue to put up with it for that to ever happen.

Jason Williams vowed in an Instagram post just now that all individuals involved will be prosecuted to the “absolute fullest extent of the law”

I want to believe him.

Williams doesn't have a problem with that. Despite his campaign promise.

He also called out the mayors office for sitting on funding dollars that they requested 3 months ago.

Superintendent Shaun Ferguson confirmed that one 17-year-old boy, one 16-year-old girl, and two 15-year-old girls were arrested. The teens will be facing charges of second-degree murder in what Ferguson called a "senseless and violent incident." Ferguson said the public helped by giving witness statements as well as tips through Crimestoppers to help them locate the teens involved. According to Ferguson, the parents of one of the 15-year-olds called police and turned their daughter in. Ferguson said the parent of the 17-year-old boy also turned him in. When police found the boy they also found the 16-year-old girl. The second 15-year-old girl was found Tuesday just before police spoke to the public at 11:30 a.m.

If I were a relative of the victim, I might be furious enough to wait on the courthouse steps for the perps, Plauche-style.

BTW yes, it’s a positive sign that some parents turned their kids in. I’m betting that when the teens got away from their accomplices, a conscience showed up and started working on them, and they couldn’t keep it bottled up. Had to tell somebody what they did. But the parents could have told them to shut up about it, and they didn’t.

Wow. Great for the parents. I’m sure it was difficult but they most certainly did the right thing and I hope they know that.

The "dindu nuffin" parents are the most vocal, but there are parents who say F that.
