Oh I'm aware of what he is doing. He's doing that NOW that public outrage got so high. I have a friend who is an ADA so hear a good bit about it (this person loves Williams).
This isn't what he wants to do, and as soon as things die down (no pun intended) he will go back to being a POS.

There was a pretty similar case in DC last year and the sentences left a lot of people pretty disappointed.

This is an idiotic statement intended by JRW to get heat off of him. The carjacking statute is an enhanced simple robbery...Basically saying you robbed this valuable thing so you get more time.
Taking a car while armed has always been armed robbery. Just like taking a wallet while armed has always been an armed robbery.
People impressed with JRWs "change" should have asked why he wasn't always charging the statute whose elements are "the taking of valuable property from the person of another while armed with a dangerous weapon" for people taking cars with guns.

Right, I don’t really disagree and that’s why I added “long term” to my first post. I’m not trying to pick on mandeville/Covington but things feel pretty bleak for every city’s suburbs that still have inventory priced that low IMO. Especially those with perceived “good schools”.
