Why is this OT related?
We have a board for this

It's cultural, it's not sports, hardly anyone watches this for the competition and for good basketball.

I imagine it's a little more complicated than comments here make it seem.

I've never watched a minute of WNBA and don't follow it at all.

But, just from news headlines it seems that the WNBA is differentiating some sponsorship arrangements/deals from the NBA and negotiating much more lucrative ones for 2025.

I would guess this is all about where the money will go from those new deals.

Replace it with the TransWNBA. One league could be male to female and the other female to male. The winner of each league competes in a battle of the genders.

I’d probably watch more of that league then the wnba

You think a spineless, liberal worm like Adam Silver would ever say "No" and risk being labeled any type of -ist?

On Monday, the WNBA Player's Association (WNBPA) made its first expected move and nixed its current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the league in hopes of receiving a larger slice of the pie.

I would love to negotiate this one for the League.

My first proposal on Day 1 of negotiations:

-The Owners have listened to your concerns and take them seriously. We hear you. We believe the owners and players should share equally in the success of this League. Therefore we are proposing a 50/50 P and L split with the players. We project that the players will need to write a $20M check next year under this new agreement as we now ALL experience the financial success of our league together.

The current CBA revenue split was negotiated before the popularity boost and new $2.2 billion media rights deal. It’s a complicated structure because the league was losing money.

There is no lock out. The players opted out of the CBA and will spend the next year negotiating new revenue split language. Renegotiating the split was the main point of including the opt out clause in the CBA.
