Does that seem reasonable to you?
That's very reasonable. There are mountains there.

Does this mean I don't have to go to work tomorrow?

Sleet is going to act as a leading indicator for our snowy potential. It'll help a bit cooling off the lower levels and let you know the colder air is filtering in.
So note the sleet you see. The earlier, the better the snow chances look for some to actually stick.

Correct - if sleet survives its descent to the surface, that means the air is at least 32 degrees or below just above the surface. If enough of it falls, the air at the surface will rapidly drop to 32 or below as well. Then that opens the door to some accumulating snow afterwards.
Even if it doesn't snow, sleet would accumulate and cause HAVOC around the BR area roads. The entire area would have to shut down for the day. Sleet is not good for roads. Snow can usually be handled unless it's heavy but sleet can't be handled around here.

Pat Shingleton is a fricking chode. Harvey dropped its load on Houston and he is still draw squiggly lines into Mexico. I don't listen to anything he has to say anymore.

Any idea what will happen with I-10 tomorrow? I need to get to Baton Rouge tomorrow afternoon around 1 or 2ish. Will they shut the interstate down?

I don't know, but I wouldn't want to find out.

Temps are supposed to be above freezing so that would indicate roads would be ok. I can't speak to the cooling effect a moderate snow band would have. Maybe patchy trouble spots on bridges where it's able to cool to freezing?

Southeastern LA Univ. was 34-35 degrees when this happened in 2008. There absolutely can be impacts on the roads.
