It is very much the business of paramedics to know what roads and highways are open and closed to get to you when needed, and get you to a hospital.

Yes. That goes without saying.

This doesn't make sense. If a closure is "planned" then why wouldn't it be released to the public? And you can't inform of unplanned closures ahead of time.

You could try taking down a power pole, won't need it since there likely won't be power

These types of storms suck. I lived in Atlanta for a few years when I was young. Out of power for 8 days one time. Could have ice skated on the streets.

Small CC in Lake Charles. Enrollment is blowing up because of the explosion of workforce here in the next few years.

Who would have thought that we would need our generators for wintry conditions over those 9 major hurricanes that never materialized due to global warming and all..

Were without power for 10 - 14 days a couple of times when I lived in N. La during extended ice storms.

I remember the ice storm here in 95 well.

We didn't have power for around a week either. Sucked. We didn't have a fireplace either. Just like now. If we lose power, I don't have a generator, looks like my stove is what is going to be warming my home.

We had one when I was around 5, I think it was January 2000, just remember being in the dark for days.

I was in Kennesaw 2-3 years ago when they had a bad ice storm that pretty much fricked everyone for 4 days.

Temp never got above freezing and the snow/ice was around for 4-5 days.
