Can anyone confirm what a truck driver just told me? Old Bridge in BR will close tonight at midnight.

This doesn't make sense. If a closure is "planned" then why wouldn't it be released to the public? And you can't inform of unplanned closures ahead of time.

I dont know why, I dont work for DOTD and you have a valid point. Maybe they do and it gets lost in government red tape. No idea.
I didnt say we are informed ahead of time about unplanned closures. Those are usually on the fly live notifications.

I swear to God if my flight on Wednesday from Chicago (which has like 8 inches of snow still hanging around from DECEMBER) to NOLA (which will be 45 friggin degrees when I land)is cancelled, I'm going to punch Louisiana in the face

I believe it. Sleet is supposed to start happening around midnight to 2:00 am.

Also, I drove down the interstate and barricades are all in place ready to go.

There's no way you'll be on that flight. South LA will be a ghost town on Wednesday. Your only chance IMO is if you take a 5am nonstop tomorrow AM. otherwise it's Thursday maybe late Thursday.

I remember the ice storm here in 95 well.

Huge ice storm shut down all of SWLA for 2 weeks back in January of 1997.

I can remember me and some of my cousins making a ton of money going around cutting up and hauling away all the frozen branches that fell in peoples yards and selling it around town for firewood.

They should probably just make this an all the time thing.

Mayor Landrieu just had a presser-

@The_GambitLIVE 1h

Serpas: "The schools & the gov't will be closed for the next 2 days - we urge people to stay off the roads Tue. and Wed."

Serpas: All #nopd officers days off canceled; all hands on deck. Will use 'blue light' strategy from #isaac.

"Airlines are contemplating canceling all flights, and this may continue through Wed."

STREETCAR SERVICE CURTAILED TUE.-WED., will be replaced by buses as long as is safe.

The director of MSY said earlier today that they would do their best to keep the airport up and running but if the airlines start cancelling flights in order for their planes/crews not to get stuck, then there really isn't anything he can do about that.

Does MSY even have de-icing equipment? I've never seen it in all the times I've flown out of there during winter time.
