I’m willing to bet if the winner did in fact lose the ticket, they at least have some doubts. They know the town and store that the ticket was purchased.

Since some States are set to make money if he doesn't claim the ticket, I'd say someone offed him so those States could profit.

Excellent idea. I never have understood why they don't declare a "system error" and automatically render any winning ticket void.
