Why do you have such a hard on for EVs?
I don't have a hard on for EV's I'm just so tired of seeing so many OT baw's screaming they will never own an EV and talking about how terrible they are when they have never owned, driving, tested one. They sound like all the people who were scared of Elevators when they first came out.

I really have no desire to own one at all given the current technology.
My city bought a bus that failed spectacularly in winter, and got national attention.
So the city decided to buy 7 more EV buses.
My guess is the federal govt is forcing this.

The overlord tentacles are deep into the auto manufacturers. Do as I say

There's really not that many on here saying such things. No more than the opposite view claiming EVs are the future and acting like they're so amazing.
The bulk of us are all for EVs as an option. It shouldn't be pushed in and ICE pushed out. Lot's of us don't have a use for an EV. The only single vehicle that can meet all of my needs is a 250/2500 series truck. While that is not ideal to drive to work a few days a week, work isn't that far away to justify having a second vehicle for. EVs only serve the purpose as a commuter vehicle at the moment.

This is a reasonable comment on this topic. Our household has a Tesla and a Ford F150. The Tesla is perfect for the majority of city driving that we do. The F150 is perfect for the infrequent long road trips we do. What all these OT baws refuse to understand is that for the vast majority of the population EV's are perfectly fine and range anxiety is not really an issue for 99% of the driving they do. But then they'd have to find something else the Govt. is doing to cry about

That's what I say to all you old dusty arse baws who have never even sat in a Tesla much less had the opportunity to drive one.
Imagine being stupid enough to think there is enough windmill and solar power to charge all of the EV's that need charging.
What about all of those EV graveyards, where one cell went bad and it was too expensive to replace the whole battery, so it was scrapped?

This is what happens when the government sticks it's stupid hands into a capitalist economy.

The most notorious troll on TD, and people still don't get it.

They had electric cars in the early 80s. No one wanted them then either.

Tesla is a brand so Tesla as a brand so more than any other manufacturer? If so, interesting...

It will work because they will force us to drive them, just like California is working towards. They are always a couple years ahead of the Governments agenda. We are weak and will take it like we do on all or rights. We are so in debt to system we can’t take off work and protest or demand change. They have made us ineffective.

They are building an almost $6 billion dollar EV plant in TN. Hope they aren't planning to lose too much.

But where's the 128 oz Big Gulp, donuts, and snickers bar? Baw can't be expected to make a road trip on an empty stomach.

Nailed it. When are the idiots paying $100K+ for a Yukon, Suburban or Expedition going to understand this?

They sell as many as they can make and their production keeps going up significantly year over year.
Then why is the OP claiming $3,000,000,000 in losses on EV’s for 2022 for Ford?

Because clearly you don't understand GAAP Accounting and how businesses' work. There's massive costs associated with starting up a whole new business unit and they must incur those costs before they can begin selling the new product.

Hybrids make a lot of sense.
If the consumer can afford the extra hardware....yes. Imposing this via government mandated CAFE standards is just going to raise consumer pricing.

All Electric, doesn't make a lot of sense.
It does for some people. But the tech and the charging network isn't anywhere close to ready.
quote:
Skipping over Hybrids, which is a perfectly reasonable bridge to full EV's when the infrastructure and technology have caught up, make absolutely zero sense.
That's been Ford, VW, GM, and Nissan's approach. There's some exceptions to that, but they are going all in on EV's outside their pickups and full sized SUV's.
IMO Toyota has the best approach here. They are market leaders in hybrid technology and have been expanding that into plug in hybrids lately. They are starting to phase in full EV products.
