Will these hurricanes finally slow down the never-ending swarm of transplants to FL?

People have to be seeing the rising flood insurance rates, possibility of having to evacuate every year, and rethinking whether or not it’s worth moving to FL.
Outside of real estate, tourism, and wealth management, the job industry in FL is terrible. The average salary in FL isn’t high enough to offset the increasing COL. Not trying to act like CA and NY are paradises because they definitely aren’t, but at least the salaries and job markets in those states are good enough to somewhat offset the COL.

Apparently you live in Texas, so what do you care? Texas has enough "transplant" problems already.

not sure the transient bums from up northeast that Fl attracts are much better

I wouldn't mind leaving if the situation was right, and I'm not even in an area that gets hit directly very often. I don't think my wife realizes just how awful life could be for several months after a direct hit from a powerful storm. I probably don't fully appreciate it myself.

when I lived in Fl it only took me one storm to realize the best strategy is GTFO and take a vacation until power is restored, curfews lifted, and everything has reopened

Many in Florida had begun moving back north. But not all the way back north. Many settled in Western NC and East Tenn.

a lot of people I know in Fl that migrated from up north have bought second homes in NC, Ga, and in that area

Florida - The more you go North, the more Southern you become.

NYC/NJ transplants are more insufferable and annoying than West Coast transplants. CA transplants have more in common with people from the Midwest when it comes to their mannerisms and how they communicate with people.
NYC/NJ transplants love to boast about their accomplishments and how much money they have. They are way more pretentious.

When Trump gets elected, our border won’t be a problem anymore.

The Great Florida Migration Is Coming Undone
A surplus of housing inventory and dwindling buyer interest are slowing sales. Hurricanes and extreme weather are making it worse. (WSJ - Oct 7, 2024)

Everybody know the difference between a yankee, and a damn yankee?

No because they don't want to be there during hurricane season anyway. Thats why they are called Snow Birds. They only go for winter...

Every person I know from the Midwest (Iowa/South Dakota/Minnesota) who has a second home (Winter home) in a southern state has one in Arizona. Warm winters, no humidity, no hurricanes.

Do you know why the South has hurricanes, mosquitoes, and unbearable heat...and the North has Yankees????
The South got the first 3 picks...

Arizona is nice until you get valley fever, been there and done that. Wouldn’t recommend.
