Why would you bring your pet to the parade route? Sounds horrible.
I lived on the route and would take my dog for a walk down st Charles sometimes?

The Causeway has consequences…
So these people that moved from New Orleans to the NS only set up for Mardis Gras because they no longer live in New Orleans?
Is that the logic here? Because those folks are the ones bringing their shite home with them at the end of the day.

And there in lies the problem. People like you. I don’t go to MG anymore but this type of behavior is very disturbing

Agreed. You can’t even cross the fricking street from neutral ground to get to the sidewalk side because of all the setups that leave zero space in between them for anyone to walk without walking over your tarp and zigzagging through your chairs.
It wasn’t always like this. You used to be able to just walk down St Charles and pick a spot on either side of the street and stand there without issue. The tents and territorial claims of a public fricking street are ridiculous.

The aggression from these people is strange as frick, and it’s not just the tent city,
People like that are there for their spot and protecting it...not the parade. The parade is secondary to their weird fricking mission

Yes, a parade is designed to be something you just walk up to and catch beads.

How much yall wanna bet this mf doesnt catch a single float or band... too busy scanning the perimeter, pushing away interlopers, fortifying the perimeter...yes indeed. A good time.

There is certainly a ton of these types out there. It is hilarious to see them get territorial at a fricking parade

Ive told stories on here about the redneck side of my wife's family. Uncle redneck onetime legit attempted to start a fist fight with someone for standing infront off...not in...in front of their spot.
Its awful in Shreveport because there are plots of land you can legit rent and you have claim to...problem is it ends at the street...so people can stand infront your spot...just not on it...well everyone WHO PAID GOOD MPNEY FOR A SPOT DONT WANT NOONE BLOCKING THEIR VIEW... its an annual shitshow lol

I only want cups really. That's all I go for. Like many locally my cupboard is full of Mardi gras cups.
I guess at least no one throws snap beads anymore.

Pro-tip: You go to the parades to people watch and not the parade. It’s more entertaining and if you’re single you hit on the chicks.

City also said that no one has any right to any spot on the parade route. If you want to stand inside someone's tent or roped off area, then that group cannot prevent you from doing. Councilman JP Morrell laid it out on WWL interview.
Essentially, all areas are for anyone and publicly available to anyone. However, that will not prevent any bare knuckles debates!

I’m not defending the massive set ups, especially the ones left unattended, but you realize theyre doing this for kids for the most part, right?
They weren't even "doing this for kids" 25+ years ago in the 90s. My parents took us (from Arkansas) every year for about a decade, but the adults got so bad about bringing ladders and step ladders and setting them up right in front of us, even though we'd been there for hours waiting in anticipation, that we quit going altogether.
There were times it legitimately got scary as a kid with adults almost trampling you over cheap plastic bullshite. Those will forever be my memories of Mardi Gras.
From the sounds of it, it's only gotten worse

Maybe go watch parades in Mobile

Just set up where you can and walk up as the parade passes. They can’t stop you going up.

My brother and I would run out to the parade when we heard the sirens and people would get angry with us - we were kids!! That lived a block away!
