I don't know if there are enough pretentious young white guys in NOLA to support a MLS team.
Also don't know if the Hispanics here would support a local team, or if they're all diehards for the "old country's" national team.

Sadly, all the I-10 corridor teams went tango uniform about the same time. Mobile Mystics had awesome looking sweaters. Travel is now too difficult for a team down here to be successful (off the ice) in the E.C.H.L. the rest of the league is too far away.

Lack of jobs and booming business to pay young talent which inturn lack of wealth. Meaning there's no market in Louisiana.

Will Louisiana ever get an MLB/MLS/NHL team?
Probably not. There's just not enough people in the metro area to support a third pro sports team. And at times it feels like there's barely enough to support both the Saints and the Pelicans.
As previous posters have mentioned, the Saints fan base extends throughout Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region, giving them an ample amount of consumers to support the team and attend games (typically) during eight weekend home games a year. One of the reasons (aside from their bad record) that people aren't attending home Pelican games is there aren't enough people who want to pop in or drive in from Lafayette or Mississippi to watch the Pelicans lose on a week day. Plus, there are lots of regular season games for basketball/hockey/baseball, & it's so easy these days to catch all the action from the couch. Unless you're really passionate, you're probably only going to go to a handful of Pels games a year.
As for baseball, LSU is the de facto pro team for the area. I do think a minor league team could work, especially if the stadium was located in the downtown area to help attract tourists in addition to hometown fans.

Pelicans average over 16.5k a game and the arena only sits 18k at best. So not sure where you are getting 70% empty from.

In order to get ANY of the 3, a BIG TIME Louisiana owner would have to come in & embrace being the SMALLEST team in the league. But promote it as such a la Rhode Island does as the "Biggest Little State in the Union".
A ballpark would have to have a retractable roof & if you could do it to house MLS too, that's not a bad deal.
No matter what, for a LA professional team, you'll have to keep seating to the smallest in each league. Create the "demand" & keep said demand going for decades before you truly expand.

not enough white people in Louisiana
Surely not around the NOLA/BR area. Not hard to figure out is it.

Maybe an MLS team, but there wasn't talk too long ago about the viability of any other team besides the Saints... and even that team was touch and go in the mid 2000's.

You obviously haven't been to many Pelicans games in the last few years. There's no where close to 16K in actual attendance on most nights.

Remember when Louisiana had the Brass
Brass was very sustainable, until what is now know as the SKC had to start swapping from bball to ice hockey on an almost nightly basis. The leases between the arena, hornets, and brass, put the entire cost of the changeovers on the brass. No way they could handle that cost. Hell, they had trouble handling playing in that big of an arena.

Walt Leger stayed on in a minority role, but he never seemed a dynamic enough person, and was rarely a dynamic presence at the ball park the way Rob Couhig was.
I have had several occasions to work with Walt and he is a great, great guy who loves this area. And he loved that team. But you are right, he's just not a stand up, rah-rah, public point guy. Not his persona. All of that personal went to his son.

I don't see us ever getting MLB or NHL.
MLS, maybe one day. For now, I'm kinda surprised we don't have a USL Championship League team. The Hispanic population in this area is booming, and we have a ton of young kids who play soccer here. HS soccer here is pretty pathetic but there are some strong club teams here.
Yulman Stadium would be PERFECT for a soccer home pitch. Or, someone could fix up Gormley and play there (Gormley has seen much better times).

Went see the Vegas nights play and I may go again at the end of this month. The atmosphere was better than all of the Pelican playoff games I’ve been to. 2015 and 2018
