Pretty sad for a child not to grown up with a Mom and a Dad. Broken homes are always tough for the kids.

not saying there is anything wrong with having a child out of wedlock if you are a responsible adult who can financially provide for your child.

No amount of money can make up for a mom and a dad at home. It’s better to grow up without a lot and two parents than to be wealthy and have one.

This is the issue here. Smart people comprehend the cost and responsibility of raising kids. Dumb people, like the OP’s relative, don’t. They will outnumber us with no natural predators to thin the herd.

This. I was reading an article about the economy still leaving behind the coal mining communities in hillbilly Kentucky...30 year old was talking about how hard it was to make ends meet as a waitress and how without maternity leave she was only going to take off a couple weeks when her sixth kid was born in a few months.

It’s still taboo for normal people.

I know one person even close to that but they were married before the birth.

That isn’t an opinion, it’s supported by data. Kids born to single mothers are incredibly worse off than kids born to two parent households. No amount of Marilyn Monroe Facebook memes can make up for the fact that kids need a dad in the home.

Yep. It's too bad Christians now are completely fine with frivolous divorce.

Seems like once the baby is on the way, there’s not much to be gained by stigmatizing the situation, ie, the baby.

Like I said - people don't want the inconvenience of kids. Having 2+ children for every 2-parent household is the most fundamental way to change this country, but people can't be bothered.

Except the case where this is the second time this happened as in ops case....

Should they be upset when she gets knocked up again at 23?

I'm a Christian, and I say that having babies out of wedlock and living together is wrong

Eh, the issue isn't the divorce as much as it is people who go into marriage for all of the wrong reasons. Staying in a toxic marriage can be as bad for kids as a single-parent home (with no co-parenting). Especially if that situation is abusive.

Religion is a personal choice but everyone regardless of faith should promote a nuclear family and responsible decision making for the betterment of society.

So now we got:

Boomers ruined the country financially.

Millennials will ruin it intellectually by having the dumb ones with 6 kids and the educated ones with 0.

No, it’s not an opinion, it’s a fricking fact. Yes you have the Barack Obama’s out there who thrive, but these are the .1% of these kids. How many kids with parents that are together and emphasize an education are in gangs? Almost zero? Why don’t I see many Asian gangs in this country?

That kind of is a big problem and it's absolutely happening. Those least capable of raising productive citizens are breeding the most.

This is mostly hogwash spewed by people who don't want the deal with kids right now. It has very, very little to do with money and much more to do with the fact they don't want the responsibility. That's perfectly understandable, but don't be surprised when your beliefs and culture are being eviscerated by people who simply out populate your kind. People bitch and moan about how important it is to raise children in two parent homes, but they don't want to have two or three themselves. Those people are partly to blame for the direction this country ultimately takes.
