First you'll have to learn their policies and safety procedures. Always wear your PPE! Listen to all announcements. Obey all signage. Ask questions if unsure.

Be careful of induced voltage currents, while dragging cable in trays with live cables . The amperage is low, but the voltage will kick your butt. Real incident, measured 600 volts on an open ended cable, electrician pooped his trousers.

Your job will be to tell the electricians if you see anyone with a clipboard walking up.

You are a helper, but will be working as an Electrician? You will be doing whatever the electricians tell you to do.

Since you are gonna be a helper, you about to do the crappy jobs, carry equipment, pick up after the job, etc

Cleaning out all the Port-A-Potties.
You will be doing all the grunt work. Pulling wires, toting tools, wire, conduit.
Listen to what to superintendent says very closely.
BTW, don't be a brown-nosing dork.
Try to learn every day.

Cutting unistrut , threading and bending conduit to start.
I’d imagine you’ll be on a wire pulling crew or the like. If you work hard and learn it’s a good job . They need people who will show up, work safe and want to learn. If you do those you will stay busy.
That’s what I started with 26 years ago.

This. While you are young you can go work turnarounds and projects around the region and make some good money.
Depending on the location and labor market, you might can get $100 or so per diem a day. Find a roommate or two and that gets to be nice extra money

Get an "ugly's book"
Stay a step ahead of your journeyman
Take off anything metal and hanging if you are working in cans inside a MCC/starter house.
Pull wire.
Look up how to bend conduit.
Buy you a "no dog" for conduit bending.
Get an multimeter. Greenlee is fine manufacturer for entry. shite might get stolen before you can get a job box of your own to store your shite.
Look up how to run a "power pony"
Good set of insulated screw drivers. Take care of them and don't knick the insulation.

Go to Harbor Freight and buy the good conduit stretcher. The cheap ones break easily and you’ll want to invest in quality tools.

Change electric tape on everything plugged in to a different color every month.

Always lick your fingers before touching any wire to see if it’s live.
