So much truth. Next jambalaya will be replaced by pastalaya, mostly because millennials and gen Z can't cook rice worth a damn.

You don’t. People get fricked up all over, but you don’t see binge drinking with explicit purpose of blacking out and raging like you see here. Only places people abuse booze anywhere near our levels are places in Europe and Australia. It’s a white boys game, apparently.

At some point, move to harder drugs.

As well it should be. There is no greater strain on the US health system than these fat motherfrickers we see everywhere today, but there’s a tight race for second between alcohol and cigarettes

Nope.

Only someone that doesn't know its supreme psychological medicinal benefits would question it. It's the perfect decompressing agent of its kind to melt away the stresses of the daily/weekly/yearly grind.

Don't be a loser and be an alcoholic that celebrates the debauchery parts of it (when you're young you get a pass). But I think it's of incredible value to the human race, when it's not abused.

Pretty much anyone selling alcohol is reporting sales and consumption as down as well. It’s not just self-report studies from young adults.
Could this be due to the fact that grocery prices have increased over 30% in the last few years? Folks have to put groceries on the table before they put alcohol in the fridge.

I'm not drunk enough to read that wall of text, but in response to your initial question my answer is:

"Is you nuts?"

I graduated from LSU and Tulane and practiced law in Atlanta for 20 years (and have had a house and spent a lot of time in Missoula—party/college town) before moving to a less alcohol-centric community for the first time in my adult life.

I haven’t had a drop of alcohol since LSU-Arky when I was at the beach. Had my first beer at the Caterie at age 15 (with a Cheeseburger in Paradise).

I don’t miss it. More a function of age and what it does to my body than any cultural shift though.

What do you think? Do you think alcohol will eventually go the same way as cigarettes socially, where it goes from being the thing everyone does to being looked down upon? Do you think it will go farther to where alcohol, like cigarettes before, are banned from advertisements, forced to have warnings of how dangerous they are and put behind retail counters?

absolutely not. The current trend of drinking less alcohol is just that- a trend. It will swing back the other way long before alcohol goes the way of cigarettes.

Look im not arguing sematics about this or that grou is drinking more or less. But to take that and say alcohol will go away is fricking retarded...

Humans have been consuming alcohol, for over 13,000 years. name something else that humans have been doing for that long outside of eating and sex.

I agree it's not going away, but the OP isn't wrong that consumption has been lower in the fast few years. Younger generations aren't drinking as much as we did at their age. That's a pretty standard agreement across folks selling the product as well as those who would typically consume. It was going on pre-spike in inflation. It's a pretty common notion among folks in substance use care as well.

Now, vaping is a whole other story.

The destruction of the higher density, middle class neighborhoods in cities in the US has meant that we don't drink the way many Europeans drink. From my experiences in England, Spain and Germany, going to the neighborhood bar/ pub / bodega for a light meal and drinks involved walking a couple of blocks and having a good experience.
In the US, driving to bars is and will always be a problem. Also a death knell for any bar that doesn't have an attached parking lot.

If alcohol goes away, men will not be able to get laid. World population would collapse. Society would break down. There would be anarchy and mayhem in the streets.
