Live in NO (and looking to move), but cannot wait to see these thugs in BR get what they deserve. Much luck to OP.

I think the important point he was making was that she showed concern...meaning that she knows who he is and may be involved.

So the dude hit your wife in the head with a pipe and all she has is bruises and emotional distress?

A POS hit me in the face with a baseball bat twice and luckily all I had was a swollen and bruised face.

I spent a total of 28 years in BR and never got robbed. House did, though. That was back before alarms and such were common.

Yeah. He hit her right behind the right ear. That hard area which I assume is bone? Her ear is swollen and she still had a headache. Until that tape is released (if ever) no one will know how hard he actually swung. Did he stop and hit? Idk. Did he run and hit while running? Idk. All she knows is that there was massive pain then when she looked the dudes back was to her.
I tried to get her to get me a good timing of it. Pretty hard to do when you try to think back over a stressful event that happened that quick.

We all got to keep our heads on a swivel now days.

I was walking my dog at 4:30 am the other morning and had some dude approach me asking for a light.

I was rude as frick and told him to back the F$%K up and get away from me (I was prepared), you never know.

Put her in some type self preservation self defense classes for women, might help her get over it

Women don’t have that head on a swivel mentality. Most are lost in their own world. There’s never a time I’m at a public place like a gas station and not checking every single person out with the kind of trash that hangs around gas stations in Louisiana.

They really don't. I remember a crime consultant lady came to my plant when DTL was actively hunting women in the area. She gave all these tips to the whole company. Every single tip was common sense to most men but the women were in awe, taking notes and asking a ton of questions.

Things like turning in a clockwise circle while pumping gas. 3 seconds per quarter. She said think of a clock and rotate every 3 seconds. seriously.

And always having keys ready when approaching the car in a parking lot. This was before push button rfid keys and smart phones. Who doesn't do this? Women.... They get to the car and dig out keys.

And making eye contact with a shady character at the pump or parking lot. That is a great tip and will ward off almost every opportunistic criminal.
Again women don't think to do this. Every guy I know does this.

Call the major assaults division at 389-3844 or 389-4869 and ask to speak to a supervisor. If they don’t do anything, continue to call. If that doesn’t work, repeatedly call the chief’s office. If that doesn’t work, go to the media. Sorry if this has been already passed along as I have not read the entirety of this thread.

I’m former BRPD and unfortunately this story doesn’t surprise me. This is Murphy Paul’s department where less is more.

I honestly wish you the best of luck and hope for a speedy recovery.

Let me get this straight. You want him to go to the gas station, and based on a verbal description, cold cock the next guy who shows up and fits the description?

You know, come to think of it, that might be what got his wife clocked. Maybe she fit the description of someone who did that dude’s wife wrong.

Geez, you can’t top the rant.

I didn’t read whole thread but in case no one said it. You should look at the adjacent business. I would think that dental place, Heromans, the nail salon across street or even the snowball stand behind might have cameras.

I've been in 4 armed robberies in East Baton Rouge Parish.

One was solved.

Two friends were shot and the shooters were known by name and address and given to EBRSO. Both victims were unarmed(not in a confrontation at all).

Neither shooter was ever arrested.

So much crime goes unsolved we don't hear abou.

Yeah, they really don't give a frick.
