My dog would get joint pain flare ups the last couple years of life. She would always be more mobile when it was a back leg that was hurting rather than a front one.

They did and they spelled it 'Tri-Pod'. Miss that dog, I think everybody on the block fed him and hugged up on him. He knew how to work a crowd.

Friend rescued an abused dog. Leg had to removed from abuse. They dog is the best. She teaches kindergarten and the dog goes to school with her regularly.

I just had to get one of my dog's legs amputated due to osteosarcoma. That was last Friday and he's just about back to his old self. Its amazing how quickly they adapt to something like this and how resilient they are. You'd never think he just lost a leg.

My sister had a Beagle that had to have one of his back legs amputated due to nerve damage. He grab a hold of the cord of a small TV and pulled it over on top of him. Didn't slow him down one bit and he was just as playful as ever.

One word of caution, I use to have a three legged dog ( she was missing a front leg).after a while she quit walking on hard wood and tile floor after she slipped and hurt her leg. But other than that she was the best dog ever.

My wife just adopted our third Yorkie. Some dude had her for 11 years. Got her in college raised her and cared for her for 11 years, but his new wife doesn't like small dogs so he just got rid of her.
Even with the sob story I didn't like the old stink breath thing. That chunky old dog has made it her personal mission to make me love her and it's working.
Dogs are awesome, they will earn your love. Do it.
ETA: one of our Yorkies is a cripple and he struggles on the hardwood. We just got him some wheels and the bastard is greased lightning.

I'd imagine retrieving that duck would be tough what being able to only swim in circles .
