Sounds like the I-10 work at LA Texas state line to Beaumont project

“First they said it would take five years, then they said 10, now they’re say 23,” Brown says. “I thought that must be a typo.”

Actually, the programmatic agreement, which details the state’s responsibilities to historic structures during the construction process, does state that “LADOTD intends for the Undertaking to be constructed in stages approximately over the next 23 years, as funding becomes available.”

But DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson says 23 years is a worst case scenario for the entire widening project—which will span from the foot of the Mississippi River bridge downtown to College Drive and also includes replacing the entire substructure of the elevated portions of I-10—and he says most of the work in areas like the commercial district of the Perkins Road Overpass will be done more quickly than that.

Would that be like 3 years per mile?

At 23 years, it would need to be completely redone, revamped, etc....

The state government is full of losers and rejects. Not all, but most. The only thing that matters is that pension.

It took them 3 years + to build a new I-20 interchange on the west side of Ruston. Even longer to build a new north service road on the east side of Ruston. Haven’t been through there lately - not sure if the service road is finished.

I worked on some projects associated with the new construction of I-49 north of Shreveport. Some of the landowners affected by the new R-O-W told me they were initially approached by LADOT about 20 years before construction started.

In a lot of areas, this would be obsolete in 23 years. But, since everyone is leaving Louisiana it may actually work out. There will be less traffic here in 23 years than today.

Louisiana leaders are smarter than you guys think

You know the project on the road between Natchez and St. Francisville started in 1980. Took em damn near 40 years to transform it from a 2 lane to a 4 lane.

That service road was under construction when I was a student at LaTech in the 80’s.

Ironically my Dad’s 1st job as a CE was surveying from Ruston to Monroe for I-20. They would get dropped off in the morning and told where they would be picked up that afternoon. No one ever missed the pickup.

This is the Louisiana DOTD we're talking about. What fricking reason is there for us to expect anything other than worst case?
