Two different breeds, I believe. Does avian flu not affect fryers the same way as layers?

Another aspect is that Egg layer operations are much larger than broiler operations. A bird flu case at an egg layer operation might lead to 2 million birds being culled while a broiler operation would be more like 30k-300k.

Following this stuff is my job.

Because healthy people are eating less and less chicken. Modern regular grocery store chicken is trash. Full of omega 6, steroids and other drugs.

Do me a favor… go kill over 200 million dogs (like Biden did Chickens) and get back to me as to why there is a massive shortage of dog shite in public parks, sidewalks, etc.

Once you see that there is a massive shortage of dog shite, please respond to the reason why there is a massive shortage of dog shite everywhere

This is correct. But it also begs the question of why only one set of chickens were culled.

The government wants you in a pod and eating bugs comrade.

My guess is that there isn't a 1:1 correspondence between egg-producing chickens and chickens bred for consumption.

Chicks don't lay eggs immediately. It takes time to mature to be of egg laying age. Is this really that hard of a concept?

We are talking only about 5-6 weeks difference.

His sort of seemed like a dickish response for something that really wasn't necessarily completely obvious.

a chicken slaughtered for eating only takes 6 weeks to go from hatchling to roughly 2 lbs...which is typical slaughter weight.

An egg laying chicken takes 9-10 months before it starts laying eggs.

This means that after the slaughter of a large percentage of our egg laying chickens there will be a shortage of supply for almost a year.

Because children don't come from chicken eggs...

Sure, for selling small whole chickens.
When you buy breasts, thighs, legs, and wings, those are from chickens that are called roasters, and they typically take 12-20 weeks to get to that 5-7lb range.

A hen usually takes 18 weeks to lay eggs, not 40 weeks.

Thanks for all the misinformation.

The question of why is there an egg shortage but not a chicken shortage is a very valid question. Did the price of an egg mcmuffin go up? did the prices at waffle house go up? When you go have brunch this sunday will the prices be higher for dishes with eggs?
Or is it just grocery store egg prices that went up, b/c thats' what it seems like.
