Is it the Children’s Hospital, though? I thought it was just OLOL, not specifically the children’s hospital, which is a separate entity under the FMOL umbrella.
Pretty sure you’re correct about this based on everything I’ve read. OP was stirring the pot a bit with the “children’s hospital” headline. But given the history between OLOL and LSU, I get it.

They are still seeing illegals too.
You can't turn them away. You can't turn anyone away. Even if you could there are ethical issues if you start turning people away because of where they were born or where you think they were born. But sure, blame medical professionals for government failures.
Oh, and OLOL is a shitty organization, unethical as all get out (They call it "Catholic Ethics"), and honestly if you are in BR go anywhere else unless you are in a trauma situation, then let them put you back together and GTFO.

There are hospitals in every town that spend millions on what are mostly image ads.
I have a really bright argument to back up my statement, but I can't remember all of it well enough to post Doing so while intoxicated on the anti-depressant my friend gave me is maddening. He's an OLOL doctor,.

Remember this?????
John Paul Funes was the former president and CEO of the Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Foundation in Baton Rouge. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud and money laundering after embezzling over $550,000 (with audits showing up to $810,000) from the children's hospital charity

I get this, kinda, for things that need advertising... but hospitals don't really depend on advertising so much as necessity and proximity. So what's the point?
I don't know whether they need to advertise or have to advertise, but they advertise like a mofo already. OLOL has almost as many commercials as Gordon and Relief Windows.

Just a thought, but shouldn’t they be spending that money on sick kids?
Or are they still sending collection agencies after the parents?

People in Acadiana went all ape shite when Our Lady of Lourdes did a $15 Million (paid out over 15 years) donation for naming rights at Cajun Field last year.

Its like Allstate giving Mahomes three to five million a year

OLOL is a wreck of a hospital
During my lung issue days living in BR, I would always choose BR General first for hospital stays. I had a couple of stints in OLOL and just felt more comfortable and at ease at BRG. OLOL felt too chaotic.

Non profit really means non tax paying. They can definitely show a profit. If they don’t make money they close. No margin, no mission.

gotta keep that non-proft status, homie

That’s a relief. Seems like the name children’s hospital is all the advertising that is necessary.
My kid get’s hurt and it’s “hey siri where’s the nearest children’s hospital?” Not, “hey siri who’s LSU’s official sponsor for injured children”

Once again, scheduled procedures are the biggest money maker for hospitals, not emergency room visits.
Scheduled procedures are not an emergency therefore proximity is less likely to be the main contributing factor in the hospital/facility you choose.

OK I’ll play along.
Doctor:Where would you like to schedule your child’s procedure?
Me: Is there a children’s hospital nearby?

So the only factor into where you would schedule your child’s procedure/surgery would be proximity?
