Another factor:
Architecture and building used to be a major initiative.
The people who did it were highly skilled and took great pride in their work.
Technology has advanced and made it possible to build things quicker, easier, and cheaper. But that sort of mass production leads inevitable to homogenization.

I am not a believer of the CT. Have listened to it on podcasts. Rogan has one I believe.
I myself find it too unbelieveable to think that an advanced culture would spring from the steppe peoples culture.
