I do recall hearing one of my college professors in 2012 say the reason why there are no more shows like BSG, Firefly, Farscape, etc. is because more women than men watch TV. I took that at face value but if it that is the case than why have red blooded American men shunned TV as well as intellect and imagination?

How have we red blooded Americans lose our fascination of space and space dogfights?

Oh and Knights of Sidonia kicks arse even if it can be pervy at times! Those wacky anime creators!

The last great American space opera was a video game! Mass Effect!

Nobody wants to watch a trans alien hook up with a cripple human when you can instead watch LSU beat down Clemson.

I thought I remembered you from a few months back.

This is a really weird niche alter, btw. Can't have your main be associated with your love of sci-fi?

I'm looking at houses right now and was chatting with my realtor and TV entered the conversation. I don't remember the full conversation, but he told me that he doesn't watch TV. He said when he gets home he opens a beer then goes and stands on his front lawn until everyone goes to sleep.

For whatever reason this cracks me up. Not trying to laugh at the guy's shitty home life, but the thought that he just doesn't give a frick enough about the people inside that he just stands on his lawn drinking a beer waiting for them to go to sleep is like the perfect picture of every unhappily married man.

Are you enjoying it ? I’ve read some of his stuff but I can’t remember what it was. I think it was good. My short term memory is starting to suffer and it pisses me off.

I’ve read the bulk of his novels

He’s probably my favorite writer along with Randy Wayne White & Robert Crais

Because every white Male depicted on TV is either dumb/accident prone/buffoon, sexist, bigot, racist, homophobe inferior to his black neighbor, gay etc.

I can’t remember the last TV comedy I saw where the main male character wasn’t the butt of every joke.

Honestly Modern Family does it best because everyone is ruthlessly made fun of.

Are we limiting this to just cable? Because I feel like there are plenty of comedies on the subscription services that don’t fit this description.

This and every show seems to have an agenda. I’m pretty tired of being lectured to. Old shows I used to enjoy were just that- shows. Most everything I see now has to remind me about some societal issue I’m sick of hearing about.

This. When’s the last time you had a strong male character in a show?

Middle Class white males 18-45 are no longer a target demographic for tv outside of sports. You think it’s coincidence that the NFL suppressed the Kap bullshite with the quickness as soon as it started to affect that demographic?

That's the complete opposite of watching TV.
