Why doesn’t the Korean War get more recognition?

I really know nothing about it other than it birthed two separate Koreas and was a proxy war between Russia and the USA. Also just as the war between World War II and Vietnam. Both which are far more extensively covered and discussed en masse. That’s about all I know. Why doesn’t it receive more discussion?

Bc it was sandwiched between WWII and Vietnam.

It was mostly fought by hippy doctors and cross dressing corporals. Most people would rather forget it.

Because we didn't have some dependepotamus on Facebook demanding that we thank her for her baby's service

As somebody who recently graduated college, this is a big complaint of mine.
I was never taught one lesson throughout all of my schooling on Vietnam or Korea. And I'd argue that I could learn more from those two wars than learning about WWII for the dozenth time.

Fun Fact: The popular live reality TV series “M.A.S.H.” was filmed during the Korean Conflict.

It's still going on.
Nothing gets recognition in it's own time.

I think it was interesting bc many of the U.S. fighters were still WII vets

Sounds like you want Don Draper down at your office handing out an arse whipping at 10am sharp.

Grandad was a vet from Korea...
I remember him talking about trying to find a seat on the outside of a tank if possible due to the cold to find some warmth .

The few people that downvoted you are too young or naive to understand why they did.

Another important factor to note is that it was a direct shooting confrontation between the United States and China. It's remarkable the number of people who are ignorant that this took place but as your OP explains, the war is neglected in U.S. schooling, media, and entertainment.

It didn’t birth two Koreas. World War II did that when Japan surrendered it to the Allies. The U.S. handled the South and the Soviet Union handled the north.
