There is a lot to like about July and August in the mountains. Even in north Georgia and South Carolina nights in the mountains are usually VERY enjoyable.....even comfortable enough to stare into a fire and consume brown water of an evening....
We were about 100 miles north of St. Pete last week and some friends came over and everyone wanted to sit around the fire pit. I built a small fire and the heat could be felt 100 feet away LOL. It was MISERABLE. Did seem to keep the bugs at bay but good god it was hot and muggy. Had to drink your beer quick lest it get warm....just not good.

Because as soon as I sit down in my chair under my umbrella with my cooler of cold pops next to me and my feet hit the sand, I stop thinking or giving one single frick about anyone or anything.

Our anniversary is around Memorial day so we usually try to combine a family trip with an anniversary trip 'cause Im cheap that way....the middle of May to maybe the first week of June ain't horrible....in fact, on the Atlantic coast of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina it is actually pretty damn nice weather wise. Occasionally nights will actually feel a little cool. Can also catch the end of Snook season (south Florida) and the beginning of snook roaming the beaches....flat lining a croaker in the surf the first couple of hours of daylight is a helluva way to start the day....

I feel that way as well. When talking about vacation, the beach is not my first thought.

It's not hotter than Louisiana heat. The humidity is low and always a cool breeze on the beach while i pound my Modelos

The only one...no
But give me water in the summer and snow in the winter. My goal on vacation is not to escape weather but to experience what that weather can offer.

I agree. I got to lakes in the mountains where it’s cooler
I prefer the beach in the fall when it’s warm enough to still swim but not miserable outside. Like October early November
And it’s not crowded there either

We always went in the summer because that’s when the kids were out of school and most of us worked in education so we were off as well. With restrictions on number of vacation days and blackout periods where you can’t take off during the school year, it was the only time you could take more than a handful of days off.
Taking off whenever the frick I want is fantastic now. We hit Asheville in May and it was great. Planning some more trips for the fall.

Used to like it more for the golf than beaches. Went to PCB a couple of weeks ago and it was okay. Much rather be in the mountains with cooler weather though.

I'll never understand the sitting on the beach thing. Mostly uncomfortably hot and boring as hell.. I will however sit in the pool all day.

Water is cold rest of the year. The beach is cooler than anywhere else along I-10 because of the ocean breeze. Only fatties hate sand. The beach helps you psychologically.

I always thought I wasn't a beach person. My family always went to the mountains every summer. We would stay all summer too.
But I just spent a week in the Bahamas and it appears that I may actually be a beach person.
I rather enjoyed just sitting on the beach all day doing absolutely nothing.

30A bikinis are enjoyable and getting in the waster is invigorating. So for that, I am in

Nope, I will take my family to East TN over Destin in the summer time every time. We always seem to find some shaded mountain stream for the kids to play in and it is always a good time. The best part is, no sand.
