unless your living in idaho, wyoming, etc...nearly every state has their war zone type city overrun with thugs...

Alabama is easily a better state than Louisiana these days. It's not even really that close anymore.

EVERY state is better than Louisiana just about. Good roads and the lack of garbage everywhere in every other state clue you in that you're out of LA without even needing to see the state line.

Yeah it’s not the best state by far, but compared to its neighbors it’s not that bad tbh.

Iraq isn't that bad compared to its neighbors Syria and Iran.

1). Plenty of outdoorsy stuff to do

2). You are near a beach, gulf shores isn’t that bad and hell you can just go to the Florida Panhandle

3). Honestly, Birmingham is underrated, if you don’t want to deal with Atlanta’s bull crap and Nashville is an overpriced/overrated cesspit of a city

4). Omg Montgomery is a war zone…Agree, but Tn has Memphis, Georgia has Macon and south Atlanta, Mississippi has Mississippi

5). No professional sports team but you have a platinum college football team and if they fail, Auburn might take the totem

6). Omg it’s redneck!!!Okay, so is Tennessee, Northern Georgia, Mississippi, Florida Panhandle, and every area outside a major city…Your point?

all of this applies to louisiana but louisiana has better cities

The people here mostly suck. Southern hospitality my arse. Bunch of closed minded simpletons incapable of thinking behind their own little worlds.

For as bad as Nashville is, I’ll take it over Birmingham any day.

The best areas that I’ve seen from the state of Alabama

-Mountain brook. Beautiful little town .
-Fairhope/eastern shore- really beautiful area. Hills and water. Almost perfect. I’m partial to Daphne because it avoids the yuppie influence but will admit that Fairhope is hard to hate.
Lake Martin- I enjoy that lake. It’s pretty, clean, nice homes and generally a good place to visit. Would not want to live there.

Otherwise, not a fan of birmingham proper or Montgomery. Not too familiar with Huntsville but hear it’s nice.

Many of the people I’ve met from alabama have A bit of an inferiority complex. Guessing it’s because it has no international airport and no professional sports.

It's really Birmingham that is inexplicably hated here. It's a very solid town, Bama people aside.

I think you’re getting the STATE of Bama mixed up with the UNIVERSITY of Bama. Nobody hates the state, just the college and it’s incessant, spoiled, aloof fans.

And Huntsville is awesome! Beautiful land!

Well it's not a meaningful international airport I guess. But neither is MSY I guess

I love going to gulf shores for a week of golf and the beach. It's closer than going to florida. The "hatred" is more fun and games with bama fans...I don't hate the state at all.

Hate is a strong word, but people from outside the South really tend to look down on Alabama and have a lot of misconceptions about the place. I guess they think George C. is still running things. It's easier to talk about Selma and Birmingham than it is to remember the riots in Detroit, Chicago, Boston, LA, Wilmington, you name it.

I'd move to north Alabama, if given the opportunity, without thinking twice

Huntsville's trajectory is bright.

I want Musk to put a SpaceX office here. Blue Origin is in HSV now and I'd love some New Space to give some friendly competition to the Old Space contractors servicing MSFC.

I believe it’s only listed as a international airport because it has a customs office. Unless things have changed, it has no actual international flights.

Alabama sucks. Nothing but rednecks and white trash. No redeeming qualities. Stay the hell out. Trust me, I'd move tomorrow if I could. Do not approach. Drive around if you can.
