if you show anyone Uniontown or Demopolis or really anything west of Selma they’ll think Alabama is a third world country, but I’d take north AL over almost all of the rest of the southeast tbh. It’s all about where you are in the state.

Well, I mean, you could evacuate from NOLA to Mowata and it would be a huge upgrade.

Demopolis

My dad was born in Demopolis, but grew up in Eutaw. Mom is from Boligee. Moved to Memphis right after I was born, but Greene County is home to me

so it's exactly like those cities when it comes to crime but not job market, culture, events, history, etc.

You don't like Birmingham. I get it. That's fine. You move to Atlanta, Nashville, or New Orleans and I'll stay here. You're being obtuse if you think that Birmingham has none of the above.

Also, not sure why Demopolis got thrown in there. It's still relatively OK for a Black Belt town. Now Uniontown, Union Springs, Selma, Greensboro, etc, etc, etc are truly eye opening. The church down the street from me does their annual mission trip to Sawyerville, AL. Hard to believe places like that exist in this country. Truly sad.

Alabama is fine, you just have to deal with a lot of the people that are Alabama fans.

Why am I not surprised?

I may think Birmingham sucks compared to my hometown, but at least I've actually been there and spent time there.
