Why does a cashier selling concessions need a tip?

So now the 19yr old handing you popcorn at a ballgame or movie theater needs a tip?

Very surprised states have not started passing/proposing consumer protection laws mitigate this lunacy.

You aren't compelled to tip

If people want to be generous and tip you would advocate a law that prevents them from doing so?

Haven't had a tipping thread on the OT for awhile.

A lot of time it defaults to a tip and requires extra clicks to say no

When they spring that shite on you, slow down and find the zero option. Most don’t deserve a tip. They prey on weak people and suckers.

Just click the no button while saying "no", out loud.

Yeah, that's what we need...more laws.

How about just not tip. There, you are your own legislative branch.

I understand what you are saying. But maybe use a different word because you absolutely are compelled to tip.

To compel means to force, drive, or obligate someone or something to do or experience a specific action through physical, moral, or overwhelming pressure.

A lot of times they make it legit difficult to NOT tip.

They don't.

Our tip was hauling chili dogs back up to the 10th floor of Nielsen at LA Tech, and garbage bags of popcorn out of the stadium.

I mean...come on. The 19 year old employee isn't the one begging for the tip. The operating system has it added as part of the check out process and it's not the individual employees trying to coerce the customer.

I don't tip for concessions either, but wouldn't be mad at the employee, I would be mad at whoever made the operating system the business uses.

Just be an adult and click "No tip." The person at the register doesn't really seem to care in my experience.

The credit card machine at the concession stands in Tiger Stadium ask you if you want to leave a tip.

What is the OT’s “Tip to Tit Ratio”? Do you tip higher for large breasts, cleavage, a pretty face, or just good service?
