I think SFP said in another thread he flat out asks clients if they spell it "traditional or weird."

Yeah I ask that about the spelling

Currently in court with one party (not my client) having one of these names

ETA: definitely ends in "N"

Why do white males care about people names so much? Do yall not have a life?

Just mind your damm business, judge people based on how they present themselves to you and enjoy life.

Because people are busy. I don't have time to get to know every person I run across. People don't have much of a choice about their surnames, so the given name often say a lot about the parents.

"James" or "Elizabeth" are names that can stretch to grow into whomever the person ends up being and have a variety acceptable nicknames. I make no negative assumptions about those names.

"Braxtyn" or "Addaleigh" tells me you were born to someone who was not capable of taking a child's name seriously. You used the opportunity to name the kid as a way to say something about yourself, which is narcissism.

I didn't address Emily...I addressed the others, of which the claim was they were a boomer generation invention...

Derek is hundreds of years old
Even Jewel was a 19th century fad name...
Jason...2,400ish or more

I didn't touch Emily

But why saddle your kid with a weird name, that MIGHT be mainstream one day.

It's a tough world out there, why make it harder than it already is?

I own a business and hire a lot of people. Applicants are absolutely judged on their names, even if it's subconsciously.

Naming your kid John Smith isnt going to make me remember their name.

It doesnt tell you anything but you are dumbass. Learn how to judge a person by who they are, not by who their parents are.

People are making fun of the parents, not the kid.

Yes a hiring manager looking at hundreds of applicants is going to "get to know them by the person they are".
