That is indeed valuable; and alumnus is typically going to help an alum.
But the recent exposure of what the Ivy League is really about and seeing their leadership on display, in all their plagiarized splendor, is a real eye-opener.
They are perfect examples of what happens when leftists run things.

Basically Harvard and the Ivies are an elite club. You go to these schools for the connections in government and wall st. These institutions have been steered for about 3 decades now by leftist who want to influence how universities act as gate keepers for the major institutions in this country. The leftist know that the only way to create change is to dismantle the values and institutions that were the foundation of this country. They see white males as being the oppressors and the only road block to a lasting change in our society. Since white males are viewed as the roadblock they will do anything to take down that obstacle. If it means lowering admissions of white males to these schools that is merely a means to justify the end goal. I used to think that the Ivy league was the pinnacle of higher education. Now I now it is a brand that has decayed due to its ideological rigor and contempt for all things that that would provide a counter to their unhinged doctrines.

If you looked at a school where most of the faculty was white men, the way it was for decades at most colleges, would you ask, "The question is why should [minorities and women] even go to schools like [this] when the people around you at those schools generally hate you?"

Mark Mitchell, the guy boosted by the OP, wants Harvard to have a higher percentage of white students. His "opinion" that a Harvard education has no value to a person with white skin because the university admits "too many" black students. This is mindless racist nonsense.
White supremacists have long had it out for Harvard. Harvard awarded its first undergraduate degree to a black student in 1870, and no federal troops were required. Black students have been generally accepted in greater numbers since then, no federal lawsuits required. For some reason, the number of black students admitted to study at Harvard still angers white supremacists like Mark Mitchell.
A.P. Tureaud, Jr., was the first black student to enroll at LSU in 1953 after his father sued for his admission. He was expelled after LSU won the first round of the suit. He was also treated so poorly that when the US Supreme Court overturned the lower court ruling, saying he could re-enroll, he no longer wanted to go there and be subjected to the treatment he got from the white students.
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia submitted their first plans to desegregate their state colleges in 1974. Louisiana refused to submit a plan for desegregation in 1974, and was sued for that.
So white people should avoid Harvard because black students go there.
Maybe we should have a "White Fragility Board" where people can spend their days claiming that their white identity is under attack.

Its almost as if none of you are aware of or can even acknowledge recent (12-18) news events regarding Harvard, Columbia, et al.

I personally held those schools in high regard based on their perceived reputation for quality graduates.
I can't speak to what happened 50 years ago, and I don't any white people that won't go there because black people go there, but I do know the entire Ivy League is not what it once was.
