My parents would tell me stories when I was younger, the difficulty of finding protein if they couldn't fish for it.
The animals are sources of protein, we co-exist with cats and dogs in western and modernized world, but in eastern and 3rd world its a source of food. Desperate countries cannot afford the luxuries of such foods like pig and cow.
Even in prison its worse shape, my dad was caught for smuggling family members during the war and was imprisoned. While in there they gave him rice to eat, that's it. If he could catch a mouse or rat, that was literally his protein.
But for people who think its a mistreatment, that's how you grew up. It might be wrong to you, but for millions its how they grew up and learned. Think about the reverse role of how some Hindi feel when you eat a delicious prime rib. Exactly. You give no fricks, why should they.

Some comic (Ron White?) has a routine about a trip he took to India.
Traffic stops for cows but no one gives a shite about people dropping dead in front of them.
He asked his drive about that and he said “Maybe this cow is that dead guy we just passed by.”
Definitely shows the different standards between our cultures.

It depends on how it is cooked. When I ate dog it was made like fajitas. I'm not sure that it was great or anything but I didn't want to miss the chance of trying it.

I’ve eaten dog and had no issues with it granted I was pretty hungry.

If I had to it would be a "Pits Only" campaign.

In a hundred years, assuming we are still around as a modern society, we will likely still have at least the dairy industry and probably the meat industry as well. And hopefully we will not have gotten so stupid as an overall society as to equate the worth of animals with that of human beings.

Why do we judge Asians for eating dogs?
im sure its only because we call them "pets"
lets see, we eat rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, nutria, alligator, hog, and some even eat opossum
while we call them pets, cats and dogs arent much different then any of them and often people in louisiana sold cats as raccoons so often to the point they started making them leave the feet on them to be sure what they were getting.

Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know cause I wouldn't eat the filthy motherfrickers. Pigs sleep and root in shite, that's a filthy animal. I don't eat nothin' that ain't got sense enough to disregard its own feces.

I'm guessing the many downvotes for this post are from people who don't realize we're headed towards a future full of lab created meat. The idea may seem gross/freaky to them on it's face, but the ability to make every steak perfect for a lower cost once it scales will make it win out over a meat industry that's relatively expensive with a product that's full of inconsistent quality.

Because it's the step many people think is just before cannibalism.
