Why do we have butt cracks instead of just butt holes?

What’s the evolutionary advantage of humans having an entire butt crack in addition to the butt hole? Is it to protect the hole so that nothing gets into it? Most animals seem to just have a hole.
Maybe the hole also helps us to be more stable and comfortable when sitting down?

So flatulence can escape while you're sitting and yoga pants.

Do you have an arse or do you wear skinny jeans? You have a butt crack because of the muscles in your arse.

I think for comfort sitting and protection falling.
If you can maneuver well, a Bidet cleans it all too.

Because we walk on 2 legs and the gluteal muscles are critical for that

Because we need muscles to propel our thighs and that takes mass. Which rhymes with arse.
Essentially, all we are is a mouth and an a-hole. We come, long ago, from worms and fishy things. One long tube.
These little appendages we developed called legs, we used to have four of, to distribute the strain. 4 legs, muscles more equally distributed.
Now if the two back legs have to do the job and thrust the whole torso upwards and support it, the muscles that make the whole thing work need to get bigger. Thus, the arse.
If you observe how we move it all becomes clear

It really isn't all that it is the fact that when we started to walk upright the relationship between the muscles that move our thighs and our anus changed. The gluts evolved to have different attachment points which then caused the gluts to shield the butthole vs it being unshielded on most quadrupedal mammals.

I recall learning about body cavity in zoology. Something about from mouth to anus and that our lips are similar to our arse cracks. They do look similar if you think about it.
