Here is the conundrum- if you believe Patsy wrote the ransom not there is only one answer. The ransom note is the key. It begins and ends with that note.

Patsy definitely wrote the note.

The dad couldn't have known at the time, he never would have let her write that.

So either Patsy did it, Burke did it and Patsy covered for him, or some third party that Patsy was aware of did it and she covered for them.

Btw, there was an extortion/kidnapping hand-written multiple page letter asking for an exact amount of cash, thin $118k... someone correct me on this.

I mean if that doesn't draw a wtf is going on here plus the other stuff... yes, it's a compelling and strange mystery. With a little girl disappearing and murdered.

I know and respect your knowledge about the case LP. But what about the note?

Yeah, I'm no expert on this, but think you exactly right.

OP reads these responses and should understand why it's a story to this day.

IMHO the note was a specific part of the offenders psychological profile and was written specifically to point in the direction of the Ramseys. And it was written as the murder fantasy was evolving while he was in the house alone for several hours while the family was at the Christmas party. I’ve explained it here before, but it was a little 3D chess psychological torture aimed at John and Patsy. It was just another sick component of a very sick psychosexual criminal. And it worked.

Somebody completely off the radar but who likely became obsessed with Jon Benet through the creepy pageant world. She was being paraded around in malls .

You might as well say aliens from Mars swooped down and murdered her.
Answer this one question:
If the Ramseys truly believed that the ransom note was legit, why did they not follow any demands in the note?

For those who do not know, of the many statements in the ransom note, one clearly stated the the kidnapper would call back with further instructions between 8 and 10 AM.
According to investigators on the scene at the time (her 911 call was at 5:52 AM and the police showed up shortly after), neither John or Patsy ever cared to look at the clock and expect a phone call.

There is a private alley behind their home. That leads in about 200 yards or so to Baseline road. Baseline goes immediately up Flagstaff Mountain. It would have taken 15 minutes to carry her to the car drive up the mountain walk her a couple of hundred yards into the woods and leave her body AND drive back. That would have been a far more convincing way to fake a kidnapping. Consider the bizarre psychology required to bind a child like that and garrote her and let her slowly die from the head wound . Can anybody produce anything similar in crime annals? What parents do, is dispose of the body. They do not desecrate the body of a child they love. IMHO.
